Nurture vs nutrient: Don't assume that willingness to latch & feed every hour is necessary. You can unwittingly create a snacking baby if you assume every mouthing or rooting response is a need to feed. Babies can do this for the comfort. You could gradually lengthen the time between feeds by 5min/day until you get to 2-2.5 hrs. Find entertaining activities for baby. You may both have more energy after you do. ...Read more

My daughter has sickle cell trait., and she's a very picky eater. she does not eat well . could this make her ill?

Possibly: Poor nutrition can, over time lead to poor immunity & more illness. Try motivating the kid with simple rewards.During a stress free discussion find out what things the kid values...TV time, trip to park..collectables...and use these wishes as a reward program for consuming approved foods. Food intake is a control thing for some kids, and a choice allows an alternative to refusal as a win for them ...Read more

What does it mean when a 1 year old hates eating and when he does you have to force it and he will have a bit fit?

Most : Most girls have a growth spurt between the ages of 10 to 14 years old. This is a time of growth as well as the development that comes with puberty. Your daughter may require extra calories. If she is physically active she will be burning calories faster. You can check with your doctor to see if she is in the normal weight range for a girl of her height. What is important is that she eats healthy and well balanced meals, hydrates well with water and remains physically active. One possible drawback to eating large amounts is that it can become a habit. As she gets older or if she becomes more sedentary, her caloric needs can decrease. If that happened and she continued to have a high food intake (especially if we are talking junk food); then she could experience an unhealthy weight gain. ...Read more
