Prob'ly no infection: Most prostatitis is not due to infection. In uncommon cases of true infectious prostatits, it cannot be caught by hand-genital contact. "Prostate bacteria" are the same ones normal in intestines and genital tract and would not harm your wife. I doubt you have true prostatitis, probably all psychogenic. Google and read up on chronic pelvic pain syndrome; the Wikipedia article is good. ...Read more

No: Rectal examination of the prostate will not cause prostatitis. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

Prostate: There appears to be no cancer based on the biopsy, which is good. Prostatitis refers to an inflammation of the prostate tissue. Modular hyperplasia i think is a typo for nodular which refers to benign prostate hypertrophy, a condition that occurs usually in men after 50 but occasionally as early as 40s.
