Doctor insights on:
Are there healthcare providers other than physicians (e.G. M.D.'s, d.O.'s) on healthtap who answer questions?
Medical Society: Either contact the local medical society or call the nearest labor & delivery unit and ask whom you should see. Sometimes your nurses can be your greatest asset, ask them who they'd send their own daughter to. There's also the local phone book but this can be random and it's difficult to get the info you need. Also ask your current doc, they may know someone. Good luck on your pregnancy. ...Read more
What are your thoughts on companies like mdvip, personalchoicemd, concierge care?
What about physician organizations into large groups?
Concierge Care: The companies you mentioned work with doctors with the right demographic patients already to convert the practice from high volume and insurance to low volume and a retainer paid for being a member of the practice. These companies charge a hefty fee. The fees to the patients vary widely and so do the things included. For some, you don't pay anything other than the annual fee. I have questions about switching doctors. I need a specialized ADHD doctor who understands me better?
Specialized ADHD doc: Wld be a psychiatrist. If you're currently seeing a psych MD, but it doesn't seem they are comfortable managing your ADHD, or you don't see improvement, it's important to say 1. I'm not seeing improvement -- so ur doc knows that u aren't finding tx helpful & 2. To ask for a referral, if you want to see another doc. Sometimes a doc that knows you well, can help connect u to a doc who can treat btr ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Dr. who can read lab results and Help Me. VA Dr.'s won't help or follow up. Major medical issues, need DR. Who Cares! Please. US Disabled Veteran.
I care.: I would be happy to interpret your lab results for you, but I need to know why you went to see your doctor. Lab results by themselves will not allow me to successfully diagnose you. I need to ask you questions and take a history regarding your chief complaint first. I would also like to know if you have any chronic medical problems. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
A pharmacist: Is an expert in medication preparation and dispensing while a physicians assistant (PA) is a medical provider. PA's are trained and licensed to evaluate patients. This means taking a history, examining a patient, and diagnosing then treating. In my experience both PA's and pharmacists play important but different roles in healthcare. ...Read more
What do other doctors think about gp's taking on pediatric patients? Should kids see pediatricians?
Pediatrics vs. GP: I'm biased being a pediatrician, gps get about a year of peds, pediatricians get three years all peds. If you are going to take your child to your gp (so one doctor sees the whole family which is great) you might just want to make sure that the gp has a pediatrician that he/she trusts to run things by when he/she isn't sure. The most important quality in any doc is knowing what he/she doesn't know. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Why not?: Virtually every form of communication may be compromised (not private) in some ways, though certain forms of communication are easier to lose privacy than others. Conversations can be overheard, phone lines tapped or wireless ones received, and e-mails can be hacked into by others if they try hard enough. If a patient contacts me via email, i answer via email or phone. Do what seems right to you! ...Read more

Brand not important: I agree with dr. Ruiz-healy, except that it's very difficult to get sufficient vitamin d from the foods we eat. You should take a daily vitamin d supplement. It doesn't matter much which brand, but vitamin d always must be taken with a little bit of fat or it won't be absorbed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
