Do Your Ears Hurt With Strep Throat
Viral infection: If you have been tested for strep throat and mono and been told you don't have them, you most likely have a sorethroat caused by the common cold virus. It could less commonly be caused by the influenza virus. This will run its course and you do not need antibiotics for a viral infection. Try Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain and fever. Stay hydrated.See 1 more doctor answer
What can you do for a burning throat it's not strep my ears hurt also I think it has to do with how cold the weather has just gotten?
Diag w/strep on 9/3, pres. Prednisone & antibiotic - throat is ok - ears hurt a little - after work, I have neck & should pain esp to turn - related?
I don't think so: I do not think that it is related. You could have some muscle sprain or spasm on the neck /shoulder area related to something else like your occupation/work out etc.
I took keflex for strep. Now I have white bumps in my throat that don't hurt, throat feels tight, bad taste and my ears hurt sometimes. Allergic maybe?
Consistant headache, sore throat, ear pain, gums hurt, body aches, nauseous, negative for strep throat and the flu taken amoxilin,?
2 separate problems: These 2 problems should be addressed separately. 1. swollen gums - can be a sign that you already have, gum disease or dental abscess. See your dentist. 2. Headache, sinus aches, coughing- seasonal flu is very common viral infection with symptoms you have described. Usually the condition resolves on its own with home care. Drink water, NSAIDs and get a good rest.See 1 more doctor answer
My throat hurts, but not in a strep throat way. My ears also hurt and the pain sort of feels like in the inner part. Whatshould I do?
Rule out TMJ: Many medical and dental issues can cause that symptom but commonly it may be tmj, muscle spasm and trigger points in the medial and lateral ptyergoid muscles, masseter and temporalis muscles. Capsulitis of the TMJ can lead to similar symptoms as can a dental never abscess in a lower molar.See 2 more doctor answers
Strep test: Some people will have referred pain to their ears with strep throat. The only way to positively diagnose strep throat is with a strep test and/or a culture.
Had strep throat for a week. Now I have an extremely sharp pain on the right side of my upper/lower jaw/ear. It hurts to eat/talk. What could this be?
So yesrerday I went to the doctor and I have strep throat he gave me meds. But today I notice a lump behind my ear it's firm and round it don't hurt?
Maybe a lymph node: This firm, round lump may be a lymph node, showing that your immune system is trying to do its job. Not unusual to have such lymph node swelling when you have a strep throat. If concerned, contact your doctor and let him/her examine you again.
I had strep throat one week ago and the doctor gave me penicillin. I'm fine now but now my right ear hurts really bad. Can this be an ear infection?
Had dizzy spell, inner ear congested, area under ear on neck hurts to touch. Also sore throat, nasal congestion. Tests for flu & strep throat neg.
Since you had flu: And strep tests, I'm assuming you had your whole body examined. Did they mention if you had fluid behind your eardrum? It sounds like you could have a middle or inner ear infection. I would follow up with your doctor and be examined again. You may need some lab work done or a referral to a specialist if the doctor you're seeing can't find a reason for your symptoms.
Yes and no.: Post-nasal drips may cause some throat irritation but it is the nasal congestion which may cause a middle ear infection. You should check with your doctor to find out why your ears are hurting.
My son has strep throat, he is now showing symptoms of a head cold He said his head hurts when he shakes it and hurts most of the time, is this normal?
I have strep throat it's mostly in my right tonsil the pain and stuff. Now when I swallow the back of my head on the right hurts a little isthatnormal?
Strep tonsillitis: Pain in r throat can radiate to r ear/head and is common. See an ENT doctor if this is a recurrent condition.
I have been advised to get a strep test because of ear pain on right side with movable lump in throat and headache. No fever present. Still advised?
Can you have strep throat without a fever? And possibly an ear infection as well? Worst sore throat ever for 4 days now and ear pain but no fever?
Yes: You may have strep throat without fever. Can be very difficult to swallow, so bad you can't swallow your own saliva. A simple swab test can diagnose or exclude strep throat in a very short time, and you can then initiate antibiotic therapy. If you do have strep throat, you are contagious until you've been on treatment for at least 24 hrs. Get seen soon. Good luck.
I have a horrible sore throat. My tonsils are swollen and there is a white spot in the back of my throat. I also have ear pain on one side. My tongue has bumps in the back and looks grayish. Could this be strep? My neck is also sore.
Strep throat: If you're not feeling better after three to four days then get tested for strep. Very hard to know by just looking
