About 8 days after: Blood HCG tests detect levels very soon after embryo implantation starts. The embryo usually start implanting at about 7 days after conception. So a day later blood HCG levels will start to go up. Urine tests usually turn positive at 10 days after conception. They are slightly less sensitive than blood tests.
Missed period: One gets concerned about pregnancy when misses period. By that time blood pregnancy test should be pregnancy.
Yes, sort of: A blood or urine pregnancy test detects HCG hormone, not pregnancy per se. If a person has a tumor producing HCG the test will be positive but wrong in that the person is not pregnant. If you do the test too early and it is negative, it could be construed to be wrong as the women is pregnant but the fetus has not yet made enough hcg.
Inconclusive: It means that you probably took the test too soon. If your period is not late yet you must wait. If that is not the case then take a second test.
Blood test: Yes depending on which blood tests they are doing. But best to count from the time of exposure.
1day: At the lab it takes < 24 hours - however it may take longer to get to you. I'd call next day and ask them to "call and get result" if it's not available. Typically, most offices say " 2-3 days" before results are back..... But..... Good luck!See 2 more doctor answers
Dunno: The most accurate test is for the beta chain of human chorionic gonadotropin. It is a quantitative test (gives you a number, not a decimal) and is detectable as early as 5 days after implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterine wall. I don't know what test you had but you can get a quantitative beta HCG.
