Braces, pre-molars extracted, gap closed, is it possible to put dental implants in the old gap if needed?

Braces, pre-molars extracted, gap closed, is it possible to put dental implants in the old gap if needed?

Depends: Premolar or bicuspid extractions are usually performed in conjunction with orthodontic therapy when there is insufficient space for proper alignment of the teeth. The orthodontist uses the spaces created by the extractions to move teeth into those spaces. If the space created by the extraction is not completely utilized and there is adequate space, an implant can sometimes be placed. ...Read more

I have a gap between my top two teeth; its not huge but itsnot small either. I was a thumb sucker so my top teeth bulge out a bit. Again its not bad. It doesn't really show but my top and bottom teeth don't touch. How long will i need braces for?

Without : Without a complete evaluation, including exam, xrays and models to determine the severity of you malocclusion, it is impossible to determine your treatment needs. Treatment could take several months to several years and could possibly include surgery. See an orthodontist for this evaluation. ...Read more

I've had braces for 19 mo. My orthodontist says I need a fernectomy to finish closing a gap in my front teeth before he can finish. Is this correct?

Maybe: Do you trust your orthodontist? If he or she is recommeding this minor procedure to complete your case, it seems reasonable. ...Read more

I lost two of my lower bicuspid teeth on both sides. Can I use braces to fix the gap? I don't think I need tooth extraction because my teeth are not crowded.

I lost two of my lower bicuspid teeth on both sides. Can I use braces to fix the gap? I don't think I need tooth extraction because my teeth are not crowded.

Criteria: As a 19 year old, if the rest of your teeth are in correct position, and your occlusion (bite) is normal, it would be best to replace those missing teeth with implant supported crowns and as soon as possible to prevent drifting of your remaining teeth. Otherwise i recommend that you consult with both an orthodontist and restorative dentist to work as a team & decide what treatment is best for you. ...Read more
