How do you get rid of a cold sore scar on your lip??

How do you get rid of a cold sore scar on your lip??

Limited options: If you are referring to an active cold sore, medications like Valtrex (valacyclovir) can speed healing a little bit, but it mostly needs just time. If you are talking about a true scar it will become less noticeable in time, but scars can really only be revised, not eliminated. Talk with a plastic surgeon about your management options. ...Read more

I get cold sores and this last one I had left a bright red spot on my lip. Like a scar. The cold sore is healed though. Will this scar go away?

Yes, most likely: Most cold sores are pretty superficial and will leave a reddened area for a while which usually fades over months, not days. If the cold sore had a secondary infection or the scab was picked, it can injury the deeper layer of skin and cause it to scar. This generally doesn't happen ...Read more

I need help, I have had a scar on my top lip for about over a year now and I don't know if it is a cold sore/HSv-1. Any insight?

Oral herpes: If you had a typical herpes outbreak at that spot, maybe that's the cause of the scar. Otherwise, HSV isn't the cause. If you have oral herpes, it is not active (and low risk of transmission) until and unless you have a fresh outbreak with new blisters or sores. Up to half of all adults have oral HSV1, so you wouldn't be alone. A blood test can tell if you have HSV1, but probably not necessary. ...Read more

I have a red spot after having a cold sore on my lip. What is the best treatment to help the scar go away? Mederma?

I have a red spot after having a cold sore on my lip. What is the best treatment to help the scar go away? Mederma?

Depends on where...: Hi there, to adequately answer your question I would need a couple more pieces of information. (1) where exactly is the red spot? By that I mean is it on the red smooth "inner" part of the lip or is it on skin on the "outer" part of the lip? (2) how long ago did the cold sore go away? Mederma can work if it is on the outside, but not inside the lip. ...Read more

I had a cold sore then it healed and turned white and now it won't tan. It's pretty big around my mouth. How can I get it back to normal?

Not much to do: When the skin is lighter after a problem at that location, it is called post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. That means the area lost some pigment-making cells, or the pigment-making cells are there but not making as much pigment. Thus, there is less (or very little) color there. The color returns in most cases and can take months to a year. If worried, one can see a Dermatologist after 1-2 months. ...Read more

Chapped lips + HSV1: also called cheilitis is a common, treatable and preventable condition. Stay hydrated, apply lubricant, do not lick your lips and use your nose for breathing. No other treatment is necessary.
There no cure for HSV1 infection and often stress is an aggravating factor. Cold sores generally clear up without treatment within 10-14 days. Hope it helps. ...Read more

Lip bubble: A raised area on the inside of your lip that is clear looking and bubble like is most commonly an obstructed minor saliva gland duct. Can you get a cold sore on your lips after they are sun burnt?

Absolutely!: Lip cold sores are usually caused by a recurrence of a herpes type1 virus, that lies dormant in your system until there is a stress. Lip sunburn is the perfect stress to bring back the herpes sores. You probably contracted the virus as a child. It stays in your body, "asleep", until at times of stress - fever, emotional upset, sunburn, etc - it causes new sores. These usually resolve in 10-14 days. ...Read more
