Yes, but...: There is increasing scientific literature showing how fat can be used for breast augmentation, but there are some valid concerns about the doing so. Some questions that need to be better studied include whether fat necrosis/calcifications make detecting cancer on a mammogram harder and what the role of stem cells have on risks of cancer development. Larger, longer term studies will be needed. ...Read moreSee 7 more doctor answers
Be Safe: It would be best to be geographically close to your plastic surgeon for a minimum of two weeks following breast augmentation. If a problem should arise, you would want to be able to obtain treatment quickly from the surgeon who treated you as opposed to someone in a different state who doesn't know exactly what was done and how. Be conservative, especially with this investment in your health. ...Read moreSee 7 more doctor answers
No real difference: We have found in our office no real difference between incisions. Patients will usually have incisional pain, and also discomfort from muscle stretch. This is usually well tolerated. Some patients may benefit from a pain pump placed in surgery. It instills numbing medicine over a few days and patients have less pain. http://www.jjrothmd.com/procedures/breast-augmentation. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
High satisfaction!: Breast augmentation clients are among the happiest patients we work with in plastic surgery. When this procedure is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon on a patient with realistic expectations, the results are almost always very positive. Problems arise when there are unrealistic expectations, the patient is doing the surgery for the wrong reason, or the physician is simply not qualified. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Oh sure...: Usually the implant is placed beneath the muscle of the chest wall. But, even when the implant is placed over the muscle, there's very little chance of a sensory distortion about the nipple/areola complex. A few days: Short answer: whenever it is comfortable. The incisions will seal in 48 hours so you can get them wet after that. I usually advise my patients not to wear underwire bras for 2-3 weeks because they are not comfortable, but other than that, you can wear a swimsuit whenever it is comfortable after augmentation. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers

Unproven, and . . .: It would be surgical tourism since this doctor practices in vienna. Though stem cells are now available, and fat grafting to the breast is possible and controversial (results no bigger than 1 cup size, some dead fat causes calcifications and can interfere with cancer detection or mimic cancer on mammogram), this is far from mainstream. It is possible: One of the potential risks of breast augmentation surgery is decrease or loss of nipple sensation. The published risk is about 10%. The nerve that gives the nipple sensation can be injured when the pocket that will contain the implant is created. If the nerve is injured or worse yet cut, there may be temporary or permanent loss of nipple sensation. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
