Sometimes: Lumps in the neck can be caused by a number of things. They range from benign (like lymph nodes responding to an infection, cysts, or non-cancerous tumors) to serious. Your doctor, after doing a history and physical exam can help you and recommend a specialist if needed.

See a doctor.: Persistent lymph node swelling associated with other symptoms can be serious. The peculiar symptoms that occur with drinking could be hodgkin lymphoma. Other less serious causes could be the reason, but given what you describe you need to see a physician. The prognosis for hl is usually excellent but you need to get this taken care of.

Rashes: I wish I could give you a definitive answer, but unfortunately rashes are basically impossible to diagnose over the computer. Best for you to see a dermatologist who specializes in skin disorders since this has been going on for a year now. Good luck.

What's the main cause of swollen lymph nodes in your neck? I'm just getting over a cold and recently it hurts on right side when I swallow. Get checked?

What's the main cause of swollen lymph nodes in your neck? I'm just getting over a cold and recently it hurts on right side when I swallow. Get checked?

Dr. Can check throat: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease throat pain.

Tested neg for HIV at 4 weeks, now 6 months later I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck that mildly hurt when touched. Do I have hiv? Partner testd ng

Impossible: First we would never, ever guess about HIV. Having swollen lymph nodes does not in any way diagnose one as being HIV positive. Second, you did not test correctly for HIV and the test you report was a complete and absolutely invalid test. It was done two months too soon. Because of this you must do another HIV test. At six months the results will be valid.

I have swollen lymph nodes that are under my arm pit and legs that hurt. Is this normal or not?

I have swollen lymph nodes that are under my arm pit and legs that hurt. Is this normal or not?

Lymphadenopathy: Lymph nodes swell and fluctuate usually due to the inflammatory reaction of infection. Pain also usually means infection and not cancer. If bacterial in origin, then antibiotics may help. If it persists beyond a month, you should see someone who can evaluate it with a needle aspiration bx or similar diagnostic procedure.

I have swollen lymph nodes on the side of my neck and behind ear. Some of them hurt. I have had them for a month. Is this serious?

I have swollen lymph nodes on the side of my neck and behind ear. Some of them hurt. I have had them for a month. Is this serious?

Likely benign, but: The neck is a very common place for mild lymph node enlargements. We do about 5-6 lymph node biopsies a day-from the neck-and most of them are benign. However if rapid growth is noted, or if bigger than 3cm, or if other symptoms develop you need to have it checked. The most common cause of enlarged lymph nodes in the neck are a viral illness, a dental infection, skin infection and "other".

I have swollen lymph nodes, my wbc is 13.4, neutron 83.5, lymph 9.0, and neutron abs 11.16.... the ER said I was fine. My whole body hurts. What now??

Get diagnosis. No ER: The ER doctor probably said, "you don't have an emergency". It's true. With numbers like this, you most likely have a viral infection. But that depends on the number, size, & location of the swollen lymph nodes that you point out. Talk to your regular doctor or use HealthTap Prime to find a diagnosis. Don't attempt to play doctor yourself. If nodes are large enough, biopsy can be done to help out

See Dentist: See the Dentist ASAP. If what you are describing involves painful areas all inside your mouth and you feel sluggish, cranky, and it hurts to eat, and the little points between your teeth are flattening out, and you have a fever, then get in right away. These are symptoms for ANUG or trenchmouth. May also be primary herpes. Get in there to be seen. Good Luck.

Periodic swollen lymph nodes under armpit. Tender to touch. Very small, can barely feel but it does hurt. 3rd occurrence. Different arms.?

Periodic swollen lymph nodes under armpit. Tender to touch. Very small, can barely feel but it does hurt. 3rd occurrence. Different arms.?

Hidradenitis: Periodic swelling of glands in arm pit would be more clearly defined especially with relationship to causative factors such as a primary site of inflammation spreading to nodes. Also recurrence appearing at random at different sites and with glands so small they are difficult to palpate. Appears more likely to be inflammation of sweat glands in armpit possibly secondary to shaving.

Nodes: Please see your doctor. He/she will ask you a few questions, examine you, and order lab tests. Examining your lymph nodes is critical. Whether or not the doctor (s) will do anything to the nodules is not certain. Hope all goes well - please keep me informed.

What could be other reason for swollen lymph nodes in arms, other than hiv, flu or being hurt. Please advise?

Many: Enlarged lymph nodes often indicate an immune response to a foreign invaders (viral, bacteria etc) and are not specific for any disease. If persistent, they may indicate the presence of leukemia or lymphoma as well.

I have a huge spot of swollen lymph nodes on my left arm just below the elbow on the thin side of hand. This has hurt and been achy since yesterday.

Should be seen by MD: Achy, painful swelling in forearm most likely from bite, bruise, or infection. Suspect insect bite or sting, cat scratch, or injury. Other rare possibilities. Worry if red, shiny top, soft center, fever, chill, or streak. Would have a health care professional examine it in next 24 hours. OK to take acetaminophen. Probably not serious, but best to be careful.
