Do Strawberries Have Estrogen
Depending: Depends on the type of estrogen. Most synthetic oc's are ok to use for short periods of time to plan or space pregnancy but then I suggest getting off of them long term. We are exposed to so many estrogen like chemicals and other hormones in our polluted environment that minimizing synthetic hormone exposure is best way to avoid increase in cancer risk in later life.
Yes: Beer has estrogen if it contains hops, as most beers do. Hops are very estrogenic, and young girls picking hops have been reported to have early puberty. It is not surprising then that male breast enlargement and impotence are also associated with heavy beer consumption. A little research reveals to me that budlight does indeed contain hops, so the answer is an unequivocal yes.See 1 more doctor answer
Diet: Phytoestrogens (plant estrogens) are present in many foods. However, one might ask why you want to increase your estrogen. If you are menopausal, you can try food supplements or actually take estrogen orally. Most birth control pills contain Estrogens but usually lower estrogen levels by also suppressing the ovaries. To answer your question better, I would have to know what your objective is.See 1 more doctor answer
Perimenopause: Check with your PCP or GYN, when was your last period? If this was over a year ago, then you are postmenopausal. If not, you are perhaps perimenopausal. If your symptoms are bothersome, and especially, since you are young, hormone therapy may be appropriate, however, there needs to be a baseline evaluation and discussion.
Phytoestrogen: Foods rich in phytoestrogen, a natural estrogen, include soy products (tofu, soy milk, etc), whole grains and legumes, lignin-rich foods like flaxseeds, millet and barley. Other foods have estrogenic effects, meaning that the body can "mistake" them for estrogen: fennel seed and cinnamon are examples. Women undergoing menopause may develop symptoms due to low estrogen, and these foods may help.See 1 more doctor answer
Don't: Estrogen levels should not be lowered. They are critical in a womans fertility, regular cyclicity and have many beneficial effects. If there is a specific condition that warrants suppression then there are many treatments, including lupron, (leuprolide) birth control pills and other methods. The question should be why do the estrogen levels need to be decreased?
Depends: That is a very difficult question to answer because more information would be needed. It depends on why you are taking the estrogen, your age, other medical conditions, family risks, other medications, etc. You should discuss the risks and benefits with your provider before making that decision. Estrogen can be safe for many people, but not all.See 1 more doctor answer
