Woud early pregnancy cause an ovulation predictor test to give a false positive?

Woud early pregnancy cause an ovulation predictor test to give a false positive?

Yes: One subunit of pregnancy hormone HCG is structurally identical to the hormone that is measured in the ovulation prediction kits (luteinizing hormone) and most home tests don't differentiate between the 2 hormones, so yes, pregnancy can give a false + for ovulation. ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

I had 10 positive clearblue digital ovulation test in a row. Whats going on? Could the ovulation test detect early pregnancy?.

I had 10 positive clearblue digital ovulation test in a row. Whats going on? Could the ovulation test detect early pregnancy?.

OPK: The accuracy of OPK varies - a 10 day LH surge is not physiological so it's either a bad test or you have a very unusual ovulation. Two questions: Tricky answer in a few words. Women do not ovulate or cycle when pregnant; this is myth. Some bleed from other causes they confuse for a period. An ovulation test could in theory be + but not from ovulation, only if the lh test cross-reacts with hcg. Since a pregancy test is positive before the next ovulation, there'd be no reason to test ovulation. ...Read more

I have tested positive 5 days in a row for ovulation but a negative on pregnancy test. What is going on?

Too soon to test: Implantation, when the fertilized egg implants into the endometrium, happens about a week after ovulation (range: 6-12 days), and it takes another 3-4 days after implantation (9-16 dpo: days after ovulation) for the blood pregnancy test to first become positive, followed 2-3 days later by the early positive pregnancy urine test, the home pregnancy test (hpt). ...Read more

Am over a week late and having so many symptoms took a pregnancy test but negative. I've also been taking ovulation tests and they have been positive.

Still possible: You could have done the test too early. Repeat it 1 week after the first to be sure. If it is still negative at that point and you are still having the symptoms you need to see your primary care provider or a gynecologist to help figure out what is going on and get treatment. Best of wishes. ...Read more
