Jaundice?: What you describe could indicate jaundice. While it is usually benign, severe jaundice (kernicterus) can actually cause brain damage. I would recommend having your newborn seen by a pediatrician asap. ...Read more

Sleep disorder: You may be experiencing episodic sleep apnea, but i would wonder if there is some seizure activity. Do believe you should see a sleep specialist and undergo an overnight sleep study. If indeed you have sleep apnea, and a clue might be snoring, you could benefit from a c-pap unit. Get all of this evaluated, you will be far more satisfied. ...Read more

Eye dryness: The eyes secrete 1/2 the normal level of tears at night and if your tear flow is lower to begin with, then waking up can be accompanied by a sticky or painful feeling until the normal daily tear flow starts. if this is common, you can try putting in plain eye ointment into the eye prior to sleep (available over the counter) which can relieve the symptoms. ...Read more
