No: Schizophrenics may happen to be narcissistic in some isolated findings, but if so, this is more of a coincidence than a relationship between the two entities. Schizophrenics are more likely to be paranoid and introverted with a small to negligible amount of close friends. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Ocd I have deals with some numbrs and right timing to do things or have done. Not everything just big events that seem importnt. How to overcome this?
Get OCD treatment: You could be evaluated by a psychologist to start with -- cognitive behavioral therapy can be very helpful in ocd. Medications may also be helpful, but i would start with psychotherapy first. Getting help can lead to relief, and turning around the struggle you've been in. Good luck to you. ...Read more
What do you do when debate over what to do with a parent has to do with a little more than sibling rivalry?
Know what is winning: Often there is no single right way to deal with parents and siblings. Rather than focusing on rivalry, it can be more helpful to understand each person's point of view and see increased understanding of each other as the big win in family situations. You are also given an opportunity to learn something about yourself through these emotional conflicts. Why not appreciate the wisdom gained? ...Read more
Does it bother you?: Some people are natural loners. If you are productive, enjoying the things you do in work and play, and are on friendly terms with the people you meet during the day, and you're happy about this, you are more fortunate than perhaps most other people. If you have social phobia, or because of your upbringing have a deficit in social skills, these can be treated easily enough -- get with your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Friends and family tell me to ignore my pain and get on with my life. They act as if i'm making it up. Is there anything I can do to make things easier on all of us?
Pain and others: Those who care about you may not know what to do to help with your pain. Pain as many emotions is sometimes discouraged from expression in families, in work/athletics sites, and in society in general. "you are simply trying to get attention." the pain is real and should be meaningfully assessed by your md. A cause for it will be typically found and then you can be relieved of it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I think having periods would be cool unique and important. Are these transgender feelings or do some other males think that as well?
Not here: This is a very good question and a serious one. But, I doubt that any answer will be valid enough to give you a sense of where you stand as far as who you are inside versus who you are on the outside. You may do very well to get to a good therapist. You did not share where you are in the world so I cannot recommend specifically. Here is a place to look: http://www.glma.org ...Read more
Is it common to protect and be paranoid of there spouse about bad things they done to them they are doing or have done to borderline personality dis?
Yes: The woman with ptsd and borderline personality disorder will likely be protective of her husband. She may shield the outside world from what is going on within the household. This is very similar to the stockholm syndrome. Please read about that on www.Wikipedia.Org. It sounds like you are a victim of abuse and your husband is the perpetrator if I am reading your question correctly. Please work on that in therapy. You do not have to put up with bullying behavior within a marriage. One book that i often recommend to women in your situation which may or may not apply is "the sociopath next door".Another book is called a dance with the devil. Please discuss these options with your therapist before purchasing them however. Best wishes. ...Read more
How to convince someone with obvious mental issues to try and get help when he is convinced there is nothing wrong with him and its all my fault?!?!?
Good luck: Issues like this are not easily resolved as they are perhaps more linked to personality than mental illness. Personality is remarkably resistant to change. ...Read more

Do people dread cocktail parties because of what they do to their weight or see them as free food now?
Funny : I'm not sure what you're asking. Some people dread cocktail parties and some don't. For those who do dread cocktail parties i would imagine that the reasons are varied. Btw, people can manage what they eat and drink on their own. The presence of free food and drink does not force anyone to eat or drink it. ...Read more
Do all people people with aspergers syndrome have to have a specific routine that they have to stick too?
This is more common: amongst Aspergers people, but not a sine qua non. Aspergers folks tend to get way more into less and less subjects and activities, usually to the relative exclusion of social interactions. On the surface this may look like over-routinization, but could be that they are compensating their anxiety about social contacts. Sticking to a routine also lowers anxiety (establishes certainty, etc.). ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Madly in love with someone for their personality, but they aren't "my type".. Is there a way to get over physical appearance so i can be with them?
Yes, but maybe hard.: If you can do it you will be awarded a great treasure. Your own "wisdom" may be telling you that physical stuff is transitory. Not only aging, but all sorts of events can make it disappear. Personality "clicks" are such a great feeling! they also may foretell that you will have an instinctual understanding and many less isolation shocks. A flashback can be: Completely. Real, part hallucination, part reality or contain certain distortions, such as in a scenario of a rape that occurred but the mind showed the wrong perpetrator. Why do I see tv shows with real doctors in the or with hair and earrings sticking out? We didn't used to do that.
Not reality: Medical personnel on tv (and movies) are projecting an image which is not necessarily reality. Actors want to be seen in an individualized way that can lead to further acting work and an identity recognized by the public. Nice hair, body jewelry, even tattoos can project that image. Unfortunately the image of the invincible physician has created a climate for malpractice for actual doctors. ...Read more

Not a disease: BPD is a personality style, not an illness. It may combine w/ things we call mental illnesses, but it's more te way she is. It's possible to change by degrees w/ understanding and courage and good therapy to correct early bad experiences. She'd need to really want to. Still, it could be on and off.
