At age 51, if you have not had a colonoscopy yet, you should have that done anyway. Good luck. ...Read more

Unable to have full bm, tried laxatives for a few days. Very gassy and bloated but still can't go. Almost been a week. What should I do.

Constipation: Try to hydrate yourself well. Suggest high fiber diet with fiber supplement (otc, either citrucel or fibercon). If the above is not adequate for your bowel movement, you can try MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) (otc, one tablespoon in 8 oz of water once to twice a day). If constipation is chronic/recurrent, you might want to work closely with a GI doctor to regulate your bm better. ...Read more

Keep well hydrated, but need to rule out gut allergies to foods (even without hives) e.g. milk (can be dyhrdrating compared to lactose intolerance), rv diet/medications, and rule out hormonal irregularities. If I'm waiting to see if I'm pregnant, the two week wait, im bloated and constipated badly, if I took a laxative, would that stop implantation?

No, but...: No it won't, but if the laxative causes severe diarrhea, the dehydration could interrupt the process of implantation. The uterus with a developing pregnancy needs a "quiet" room to conduct its' business, and that is very hard when there is an intestinal "party going on next door". ...Read more

Been bloated and constipated 9 days. Laxatives are barely helping. My stomach X-ray results come in two days but what should I do for relief for now?

Been bloated and constipated 9 days. Laxatives are barely helping. My stomach X-ray results come in two days but what should I do for relief for now?

Opposite end: Don't wait for the x-ray, it is unlikely to show anything earth-shattering if you are not febrile / vomiting / septic. If you are generally healthy, try enema (like fleets) & follow directions. If that helps move things, may need to repeat x 1 in several hours. After moving, bottle of mag citrate will clear from above. From then on, use fiber or other stool softener to keep things moving. ...Read more
