I only have 1 tonsil. Every now & then will get a sore throat. Tonsil leaks fluid & has puss balls. Any thoughts?

Surgery?: It is highly unlikely you only have one tonsil. Most likely the other tonsil is so small, it can not be visualized. If the tonsil that you see has pus and infection, you may consider a culture and sensitivity for an appropriate antibiotic. The indication for tonsil surgery is 3-4 episodes of documented tonsillitis in a year. ...Read more

Viral : Viral upper respiratory tract infections usually last 7-10 days or should at least be improving by then. You may be a bit early yet. The chance of having strep throat after a tonsillectomy is quite low. It sounds like you are doing everything possible for symptom management.
