Do I Need Csection If I Only Ever Had One Herpes Blister Confirmed
Perhaps: Once infected with herpes simplex (usually type 2) on the genitalia the virus remains in your body for life, like a squatter. Even though you may not have overt lesions on your genitals there is good evidence that shedding of the virus in the vagina occurs with regularity. With that history many obstetricians would prefer to deliver your baby through c-section rather than risk neonatal herpes. ...Read more
There are different types of herpes infections; herpes simplex infection of mouth (gingivostomatitis) and lips (labialis) are the most common. Others include genital herpes, and herpes zoster. Herpes infection could very mild to very dangerous depending on the type and location of the body affected. I ...Read more

Herpes testing: Testing for HSV-2 is indicated when you have a partner who is positive for HSV-2. Are you having symptoms? I can have you tested & treated. I can also have you tested for HIV and other STDs. I recommend you have your partner get testing as well if she is unsure. I can also prescribe Valacyclovir for her to reduce the risk of transmission. I treat patients in New York State only. Good luck. ...Read more
During pregnancy i was told that i had a genital wart, with time it went away. I haven't had one since. How can I tell if the virus is gone?
From your partner: Genital warts are transmitted by direct contact with another individual who already has them. You can conceivably get these from fingers into your vagina, but more commonly from a penis. Your partner may not have obvious active lesions and can still transmit the virus. ...Read more
No: I assume you had a blood test looking for antibodies to HSV 1 & 2. 10s of millions of Americans also have evidence of exposure to herpes; not everyone gets symptoms. There is no reason to be on medication unless you have an acute outbreak - painless ulcers on your lips or inside your mouth (HSV-1) or similar painful lesions in the genital region (HSV-2). 9 in a year is reason for daily meds. ...Read more
How can I be sure if I have genital herpes if i've never had an out break but my past partner was positive. It's been 4 years?
Testing: Blood tests can confirm prior exposure. That is not a guarantee you actually had an outbreak. ...Read more

I was tested positive for chlamydia last year and got rid of it! I never had a full test though. Would I know if I had it by now?
Probably yes, but...: If you had symptoms at the time (usually a discharge from the penis, with or without mild discomfort urinating), and they have cleared up, probably you were cured. However, the treatments are not perfect, and everybody with chlamydia is recommended to have a follow-up lab test (urethral swab or urine) 3-6 months after treatment. Contact your doctor or clinic to arrange for testing. Good luck! ...Read more
Electromyography: The test is done via mild electrical shocks over various nerves, and the impulse is recorded over a muscle. We have normal values for voltage and velocity and compare results with expected normal values. A needle electrode part evaluates the effect of nerve dysfunction on the muscle, and can sort out patterns. At time of test, have your doctor explain fully what he/she intends to do. ...Read more
I had exposure for herpes whitlow three weeks ago and nothing showed up. How long should I wait till I know I don't have it?
Herpes: Since 75% of Americans have Herpes you should first get a blood test to prove you do not have this infection already. Second, 90% of those who get infected never have a sore or outbreak but still are infected. If you are negative to begin then three to six weeks after an infection an IgM antibody test should be valid. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Gave oral sex to my bf, I had what I thought was a pimple, now I think it's a cold sore.I've never had one so idk if it is one, will he get sores now?
One thing to know: Whether or not and how people can get infected with the HSV-1 or HSV-2 is extremely open to speculation. A woman needs to know that the one time she does not want to have a genital herpes outbreak is when she gives birth. If a woman suspects she could have genital herpes, even though she never had an outbreak, ask the provider at the time of delivery to do a thorough exam. She may need a c/section ...Read more
I was wondering if cold sores are only contagious during an outbreak? I just recently had an outbreak and didn't know I had the herpes virus. I am visiting my boyfriend next week, I am hoping it will be gone by then and I was wondering if it is gone is it
Herpes simplex: Anyone who has had "cold sores", assuming that these were herpetic lesions, may be shedding virus even in the absence of open lesions. This is not, of course, a guarantee that you are spreading it, but a high probability that your intimate partner has become infected. Worldwide, the rate of HSV infection is around 90%. ...Read more
Do I need further HIV testing if I had only one exposure and was before 6 months of test? Even if I had symptoms?
HIV nucleic acid: If you had a HIV nucleic acid test, six months after exposure, and it was negative, you do not have HIV. The symptoms may be due to some thing else. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more
Could I have contracted genital herpes? I had a sexual encounter about two weeks ago who I am now told by a third party has herpes. We did not have sex, but she did perform oral on me, and although i did not perform oral on her, i did finger her and lick
Probably no risk: If your partner has genital herpes, you were not at risk: most people with genital herpes do not have simultaneous oral herpes, so no risk from oral sex. If she has oral herpes and had an outbreak at the time, you could be at risk. However, half of all adults have had type 1 HSV (often since childhood) and are immune to new infections with HSV1. Fingering is no risk for catching genital herpes. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If I tested positive for hsv2 antibodies but have never had an outbreak/symptoms, do I actually have herpes and am I contagious?
Past exposure: The antibodies are protein products produced to react against HSV 2, if you test positive you have had an exposure in the past and may carry the virus currently. So you have a risk of being contagious and should take appropriate precautions depending upon the circumstances. (joke: what's the difference between love and herpes. Answer: herpes is forever). ...Read more
