Hello.  I have night sweats, every night for a couple weeks.  No fever.  Is there a particular way to check for cancer?  Do blood tests reveal cancer?

It depends: There are lots of different causes for night sweats. Cancer can be one of them. But there are many different kinds of cancer, and each has different diagnostic and treatment pathways. The best thing to do if you have persistent night sweats is get evaluated in person, by a doc who can do a thorough history and physical examination. Then you can calm your worries. Possible diagnosis: With localized pain and a repeating pattern of pain a hernia, versus several other problems are possible. As long as you are not febrile or vomiting, okay to mark the tender spot with ink pen and ask your doc to order abdominal ultrasound with attention to right upper quadrant and the abdominal wall at the spot.
