Do I Have A Mental Disorder Or A Colorful Personality If Joking All The Time
The Joker: I'm not sure about this, as there's a lot you're not saying here. Joking can be engaging and fun, and people enjoy laughing. But if the person is never, ever able to have a serious conversation, the joking may be serving a more defensive purpose. There's a big difference between being light-hearted, and feeling compelled to crack jokes constantly even when serious or sad things are going on. ...Read more
Psychopath: When i hear about manipulative behavior this could be a psychopathic person who wants to "get one over" on you or it could be someone with a histrionic personality who would be manipulative to get one's attention not for the purpose of exploiting the person like the psychopath. Is it possible that highly maniplulative people are suffering from a mental disorder and therapy can help. Otherwise is it down to personality.
Manipulative people: may be helped w/therapy. If it is part of a personality disorder the prognosis is not a good as if it is not. Either way, encourage the person to consider therapy. Also, make sure you remain strong in the face of people like this. Don't waste energy trying to convince them of something, just don't go along w/what they are trying to manipulate you into.
