When I scratch my legs I get what looks like a hickey. It lasts for several days. What is the cause of this?

Tiny vessel damage: If it lasts for a few days and looks like a hickey, you are probably scratching hard enough to damage the tiny capillary blood vessels in the skin, and what you are seeing is a tiny bruise in the area you scratched. Do you have any other easy bleeding symptoms like nose bleeds, heavy periods, gums bleeding with brushing teeth - then may want to check if blood doesn't clot right. ...Read more

I have a bruise on neck resembling a hickey. Possible causes? No kissing or injury to the area. I do have swollen lymph nodes in the region.

Get a medical check: This bruise could be from any kind of injury or bump. But your enlarged lymph glands concern me even more. So the best course of action is to have your doctor check your lymph nodes as well as your bruised area. A blood count (cbc) may be able to rule out any obvious cause of bleeding (bruises). If the lymph nodes are larger than one centimeter or if they enlarge further, then a biopsy of the node be. ...Read more

Is it normal for hickeys to hurt the day after u get them? It doesn't hurt bad just when I put pressure on it. How long do they last?

Varies, but yes.: It is a bruise unless there is spreading redness, pus, streaking warmth (skin infection. DOUBTFUL). About a week, could actually turn green/yellow. This is also not a sign of anything serious. Blood breaks down to funny colored pigments. Warmth increases circulation and resolution. ...Read more

Can people get cancer from hickies?

No: Life's too difficult as is, and loving is too much fun, to listen to people making up scare stories like this. If it doesn't mutate genes (and a hickie won't do that), and it doesn't cause severe long-term turnover of cells (ditto), it won't cause cancer. Anything in ridiculous doses can increase cancer risk (there's junk work on lab rats that capitalizes on this). Love reasonably & be happy. ...Read more

Please tell me how do you get rid of a hickey quickly?

Put hand over it.: There is no way to make a bruise go away any faster than several days. You could camouflage it by beating yourself around the face and neck making the hickey a small part of a much larger injury, but I would never suggest that. Other than concealing it with clothes or makeup I am afraid you are out of luck. A warm compress could increase blood flow and potentially reduce total dwell time. ...Read more
