In a way: Some Doctors may prescribe steroids by mouth to decrease swelling and inflammation, but they are by no means as beneficial as the Suppositories for their desired effect. Best wishes.

Can you tell me about hemorrhoid suppositories?

Can you tell me about hemorrhoid suppositories?

Lubricate&soothe: Prescription and otc suppositories soothe burning from swollen internal hemorrhoids, reducing inflammation and are sometimes combined with pain relieving compounds too. They don't work for outside hemorrhoids/piles, and should be used sparingly and for a short term only.Persistent pain (>7 days) should be evaluated by your physician as it may indicate a more serious problem here.

What is the best homecure for hemorrhoid aside from suppository?

What is the best homecure for hemorrhoid aside from suppository?

None: Eat a healthy hi fiber diet, drink plenty of non caffeinated, non alcoholic fluid daily, more if you exercise or travel by plane alot. 80-100 ounces per day is a good start and go up from there depending on your activity level. Also stop reading on the toilet. Have your bm within 5 minutes or get out and come back when the urge is truly there.

Stool softner: If the only problem is itching and you know it is a hemorrhoid then stool softeners can help decrease the irratation of bowel movements which will decrease the inflammation. However other things can cause rectal itching, such as worms. If hemorrhoid meds & stool softener does not decrease it you might want to be checked. If blood, drainage need exam.

Can you use a preperation h suppository before glycerin supppository? Constipation due to internal hemorrhoid. Partial blockage.

Can you use a preperation h suppository before glycerin supppository? Constipation due to internal hemorrhoid. Partial blockage.

Hemorrhoids: If the hemorrhoids are on the outside, you can use preparation H cream. If they are in the inside, you will need a suppository like preparation H or anusol. You should avoid constipation so that the hemorrhoids don't recur. Your doctor can do an anoscopy in the office to determine the size of hemorrhoids. If there is partial blockage sensation, you might want to consider a colonoscopy.

Avoid constipation: Should avoid meds that cause constipation. also do warm sits bath 3 times a day for 10 days, and apply hemorrhoid cream after each bath, suppositories don't help much. High fiber diet is also beneficial.

I sometimes take stemetil and glycerine suppositories but have hemorrhoids. Will the suppositories affect the hemorrhoids or harm and irritate them?

No problem: The stemitil will not harm your hemorrhoids, nor will the glycerin. Given the fact that you have hemorrhoids however you need to be extra careful with the insertion of the suppository so that you don't accidentally cut the hemorrhoid with a fingernail. Make sure that your fingernails are cut down very short before inserting and always use a glove.

How long does it take for hemorrhoids to go away? (Or at least go down)? I'll admit I haven't drank much water recently or done fiber or suppositories

How long does it take for hemorrhoids to go away? (Or at least go down)? I'll admit I haven't drank much water recently or done fiber or suppositories

A few days. .....: As you know, hemorrhoids are dilated rectal veins, like a varicose vein. Constipation, straining to defecate (usually due to constipation), poor fluid & fiber intake contribute. Soaking in a warm tub, increased fluids and fiber in diet, & using an OTC hemorrhoid cream containing hydrocortisone should relieve swelling and discomfort. I would give it a week; then see your doctor if symptoms persist

Is there a way to find out why did my doctor prescribe suppositories for external hemorrhoids?

Symptoms: You likely went to see your doctor for some issue or complaint related to hemorrhoids. The doctor prescribed something to help your symptoms. External hemorrhoid veins are connected to the internal veins. Suppository would generally be used for relief of discomfort & swelling of hemorrhoid veins, inside & outside.

Yes, but: I don't thing they would help much. Your best bet is to buy a few enemas. Follow the directions on the bottle. Try to hold the contents inside for as long as possible (1-0-15 min would be good) and then try to empty as much as possible. You may need to try again in a day or so. Consult your doc if this isn't helping.

I recently had a thrombosed hemorrhoid lanced. It has been 5 days now and still bleeding. I have been talking rectual suppository accutal is this norm?

Thrombosed: Thrombosed hemorrhoids are quite painful until the blood clot is removed. If bleeding is brisk and persistent I feel a colon-rectal surgeon or proctologist is best qualified to treat you.
