Can a gynaecologist see if there's ovarian cancer by looking at ur cervix? I have all the signs of OC also two 3cm cysts. He Refused me a smear.

No: The gynecologist can not tell if you have ovarian cancer by looking at your cervix. Your ovaries are in your pelvis, and you would need an ultrasound to see if there are any masses that would be suggestive of ovarian cancer. A pap test is used to screen for cervical cancer, and cervical cancer can sometimes be seen if it has progressed and you have a large mass on your cervix (biopsy needed). ...Read more

How do you check for ovarian cancer?

Many ways: Often it's asymptomatic until it's well advanced. If there's any early symptoms it's going to be vague ones that ladies are plagued with anyway like bloating and pelvic pain and bladder irritation. Testing 1st involves a pelvic exam (a small mass will be hard to feel), an ultrasound, possibly an MRI. A ca125 is a blood test that's usually elevated in ovarian cancer, but other things elevate it too. ...Read more

Infertility Yes Rx N: Infertility and having no children are independent risk factors for ovarian cancer. Some injectable super-ovulation drugs had some initial concern for increasing cancer risk but most believe that any increase in risk is minimal. No specific screening is recommended for ovarian cancer. Ca-125 testing and ultrasound have not been effective at determining who will develop ovarian cancer. ...Read more
