In the absence of any other Sx (especially swelling or fever), u shd rest ur joints- use them as little as possible- & if u are otherwise healthy & not taking meds, consider an NSAID like Naproxen with food. If can fully extend and flex with exception of that flex ion limited by swelling then observe. If doesn't improve seek evaluation. Probably vascular: This "appearance" is probably a vascular (circulation) issue. There is certainly no reason for concern since I do not believe this is associated with any medical disorder(s) Try asking again and attach some photos!!

More info?: This could be gout, though there would usually be redness. Rheumatoid arthritis comes to mind but usually no sudden onset and generally more joints that one small finger joint.
