What causes bleeding from the cervix after menopause? US shows endometrial thickening of 8mm and no change in fibroids. Bleeding is from cervix.

Bleeding: Polyps both endocervical and prolapsed endometrial polyps, cervicitis (inflammation from infection), cervical cancer are some of the causes. In your case I wouldn't expect to see an 8mm endometrium at age 60, so I'm concerned about possible hyperplasia. Trauma from sex can cause cervical and vaginal bleeding as well from atrophy. ...Read more

49 yrs f, MRI & ultrasound show 2 small fibroids & cervical polyp. Dr. Sez hvy pain bleeding is caused by hormone flux . Could it b endometriosis ?

Can be from hormones: As a woman gets older, the hormone regulation gets out of balance, and can cause these things. This can influence endometrium growth, and thus result in relative endometriosis, and heavy periods. But this should be limited to your cycle. It is when/if you have spotting and discharge between periods that is more cause for concern, as this is the kind that is more associated with abnormal issues. ...Read more

I recently found out that I have a fibroid tumor. It causes long and painful menstrual cycles. I was prescribed Depo-Provera to help with bleeding. It was unsuccessful and I was informed by my doctor that my only other options would be to have a hysterec

Many options: If done with childbearing, options do include hysterectomy, myomectomy, embolization, or medications to promote amenorrhea (no cycles). If ocps don't work, you've already failed dmpa, and you want the most definitive cure, i'd recommend a simple hyster. Embolization has worked for some but i'm not too satisfied with the amount of pain some women experience after. D/w your doc what's best for you. ...Read more
