What OTC (over the counter) products would you suggest to tone and lighten skin without using harsh chemicals that are bad for the skin?

What OTC (over the counter) products would you suggest to tone and lighten skin without using harsh chemicals that are bad for the skin?

Prevent tanning: The only natural way to lighten skin is to avoid sun exposure. The down side is that people who avoid sun exposure will lack enough vitamin d, so have to take supplements which are sold everywhere. Many women use skin or facial moisturizers which contain sunscreen. Some also wear wide-brimmed hats and a few wear tinted plastic face shades when in a car (but they may not see as well when driving!). ...Read more

Any other way to rid objects and surfaces of major germs without using things like Clorox wipes? They are so strong and irritating to nose/throat

Any other way to rid objects and surfaces of major germs without using things like Clorox wipes? They are so strong and irritating to nose/throat

How clean is clean?: In real life, people who don't want to use chemicals can wipe down "nonporous" toys with a moist towel, let them dry, and put them away for a while. If a person is really worried enough to do this, she can get 14 plastic storage boxes, each containing "nonporous" toys, and ROTATE the boxes. Bring out the oldest box each day, which contains toys untouched for the last 14 days. That usually works. ...Read more

I use small detergent packets to wash my wash cloths in the washing machine. Is there a certain ingredient that cause acne?

Not likely: Acne is caused by the excessive inflammatory response that your immune system mounts to get rid of a bacteria that normally lives in our skin and to which other people's immune system does not overreact. My nose is oily and has clogged pores. What drugstore cleanser will properly clean without drying out other parts of my face?

Soap and water: Try gentle soap and water followed by biore strips. Over time, they will unclog the pores. Lower concentrations of benzoyl peroxide usually won't dry out the other parts of your face. There are many other options as well. You will have to try them and see. If they don't work, please see a dermatologist for best individualized advice. ...Read more

I have oil skin with pimples. My friend suggested "Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion" but the Lotion contain parabens, may be causing the skin problems. So is it good to use that lotion are any lotion is there which will not affect the skin? i am male and 25year

Cetaphil: Is one of the mildest lotions there is. It is not oil based so would not aggravate your acne. If you are ALLERGIC to parabens, perhaps could cause a rash but not acne. Neutrogena is also a good cleanser but it contains glycerine, that COULD increase oiliness. Try a mild salicylic acid based cleanser instead, and tretinoin for the pimples. ...Read more

What is the best way to clean a cut on the skin?  i've been told hydrogen peroxide slows cell growth & not to use. What else aside from soap and water

What is the best way to clean a cut on the skin?  i've been told hydrogen peroxide slows cell growth & not to use. What else aside from soap and water

Avoid peroxide: Peroxide not only kills the bad things (bacteria, etc) but also the fibroblasts - cells that promote healing and the production of new tissue. Gentle washing with a mild soap and water is usually adequate, perhaps followed by apply Bacitracin or neosporin ointment. Allowing wound to dry out usually results in prolonged healing and a higher risk of scars. ...Read more

What are the best ways to keep the pubic area clean? Any recommended soaps, etc?

What are the best ways to keep the pubic area clean? Any recommended soaps, etc?

Mild: Dove for sensitive skin and Aveeno (oatmeal) are the gentlest soaps to use in that area and seem to cause the fewest problems. Use products that are free of dyes, deodorants, and perfumes. Avoid bubble baths and bath oils. This is not an area in which to use hygeine products other than soap and water. It is also not a good idea to douche. Douching can cause infections and increase the risk of tubal pregnancy ...Read more
