Sometimes: Children who go on to develop autism can experience an acceleration in the growth of head circumference around 6 to 12 months of age. Abilify (aripiprazole) for symptoms: In my experience, Abilify (aripiprazole) can often ameliorate the irritability of some children who have a diagnosis of autism. Suramin, used for years as an anti protozoan agent, has shown some promise in mice for reversing some aspects of a theoretic cause of autism and is apparently now in human clinical trials. Perhaps this is what you had in mind when asking about a new autism medication. ...Read more

Families with children with autism require special resources. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Unlikely : The mental impairments associated with lead toxicity are qualitatively different from the autism spectrum, so childhood exposure to these compounds while bad, would not yield autism.
