Antidepressants And The Thyroid
Hyperthyroidism: There are no food that reverse hyperthyroidism or make it worse.
Best Antidepressant: No best antidepressant exists. Different people respond differently thru trial & error, mostly guided by tolerability & side-effect profiles of the medicines, history of prior response, & family history of response to similar medications.See 1 more doctor answer
Do antidepressant drugs like zoloft or paxil (paroxetine) affect thyroid function? Is it safe to take thyroid booster with antidepressant medicine? Thanks
See answer: Antidepressants don't affect thyroid function. Safe to take thyroid medication together with antidepressants as prescribed. Some symptoms of depression and thyroid disorder may overlap. However, the cause may be one or the other. Lengthy medical training provides that expertise. Take care.
I have SAD and tried various antidepressant but found unhelpful, however as reducing Paroxetine feel more energy but increased neck ache/stiff, resolve?
Drug combinations: There are too many possible drug interactions to list. Ask your pharmacist or your doctor to check for interactions between any and all of the drugs you are taking, including both prescription and non-prescription drugs.
I have depression, low self confidence and hyporeflexia. Anti depressant was not effective. Does it belongs to my thyroid?
Only 1 way to know: Hi. Given that you have schizophrenia and anxiety disorder, your symptoms could easily have nothing to do with your thyroid. However, there is really only one way to find out...have your TSH and free T4 tested. Abnormal thyroid function is more likely if you have a family history of thyroid disease or if you have certain autoimmune conditions. Get tested for peace of mind. Good luck!
I have had my thyroid checked multiple times by previous physician. I had a few come back abnormal, but when checked a couple months later it was normal again. I've recently been even more fatigued, depressed (on anti-depressants), anxiety, gained 60 lbs
An endocrinologist: Is the kind of doc to see. They specialize in hormonal imbalances like thyroid. There are natural ways to treat the thyroid but it all needs to be coordinated w/your docs. Peace and good health.
19 y/o. No motivation, low sex drive, always tired etc. Testosterone and thyroid are good. I am on a anti depressant and I still feel the same. Help!
No motivation: Please reflect on your lifestyle. How is your diet and nutrition? Junk food? Do you exercise even a little as in some brisk walking? Getting enough sleep? Consider seeing a mental health professional for diagnosis and treatment. Medication may help but you appear to need more. Peace and good health. Treat yourself from every angle.
Can artery pain on the pulse in the neck be simply referred pain from missing a few doses of anti depressant (cymbalta)?
Indirectly: First, see your provider to rule out cardio-vascular issues. If all is fine it may be that your emotional distress is leading to somatic symptoms. Tightening muscles might create such pain and perhaps a therapist can teach skills to manage your feelings better. Also, the missed doses might have started some w/drawal effects. Be diligent w/ powerful meds. It matters. Take care!
Major depression and i'd like to be happy again. Is there any particular antidepressant that is recommended?
There are a few...: Most studies recommend medication and psychotherapy. Since I am a psychologist, unless the depression is very severe and the person is suicidal, I start w' psychotherapy and refer for medication if it is needed later. The meds may take the edge off and allow someone to take better advantage of the psychotherapy. There are several antidepressant & a psychiatrist can help you decide which one.
Dr. Is giving me antidepressant medicine (fludac) to control my IBS d, how long I should take this medicine, as another dr. Advise me not to takefludac?
Discuss with doc (s): High % of GI pts have depression & their GI sx are frequently helped by antidepressant meds but this is something that needs to be determined by your doc (s).
I've been taking citalopram 10mg for 3 days. I'd like to stop it for personal reasons and not take an antidepressant. How would I go about tapering th?
Its ok: It takes 7-14 days to reach therapeutic serum level to work properly. After three days intake it should not need to tamper as you can just stop However, I would strongly advise to seek doctor help and let your doctor know that you are not willing to take any anti depressant and he can suggest other options. Seek psychological support, eat healthy, practice mindfulness, go for walk. Best wishes.
Recommendations for antidepressant with fewest side effects? Celexa (citalopram) no affect on me when I tried it a few years ago. S.A.D. Is an issue for me.
