Please tell me, could you drink alcohol while on the antibiotic amox tr-k clv?

Please tell me, could you drink alcohol while on the antibiotic amox tr-k clv?

Don't know, but...: Since there are no double-blind, randomized control trials to answer this question, can't tell you for sure. However, the question that I have is - since an antibiotic is usually given only for a few days, if you don't feel like you can safely refrain from drinking alcohol for even that period, might you be struggling with an alcohol problem. Please discuss this with your doctor asap. ...Read more

I have finished my full course of antibiotic 4 hours before so can n i drink alcohol?

I have finished my full course of antibiotic 4 hours before so can n i drink alcohol?

Depends on…: The antibiotic: some like Flagyl (metronidazole) can interact with alcohol & cause marked nausea & vomiting. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) alone can cause nausea/vomiting even without alcohol. No drug interactions r listed for bactrim, (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) amoxicillin, & alcohol, but it's never a good idea to mix alcohol with meds. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) & alcohol both affect the liver. Best to wait until you've finished antibiotics before drinking. ...Read more

Is it OK to drink alcohol while taking z pac (azithromycin) antibiotic?

Is it OK to drink alcohol while taking z pac (azithromycin) antibiotic?

Within limits, yes: Azithromycin can cause gastrointestinal irritation with abdominal pain, nausea, or cramping, and alcohol could make it worse. For most people, a couple of drinks, wine or beer aren't likely to be a problem, but go easy. Of course heavy alcohol use impairs the body's ability to fight any infection, so no heavy drinking. ...Read more

Can I drink alcohol while taking Nitrofurantoin 100mg for a UTI? I wanna drink this weekend and my last day to take this antibiotic is Saturday.

Can I drink alcohol while taking Nitrofurantoin 100mg for a UTI? I wanna drink this weekend and my last day to take this antibiotic is Saturday.

No contraindication: However, since alcohol use may be associated with sexual disinhibition, and "athletic" or vigorous sexual activity is associated with UTI's in women, would exercise caution on that front. Alcohol does reduce our body's immune response to infections, and does have some interactions with some antibiotics (taking it with Flagyl can be dangerous), there is no problem with nitrofurantoin. ...Read more

If I am taking xifaxan (rifaximin) for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, is it okay to drink alcohol with it? Or will it adversely affect the antibiotic

If I am taking xifaxan (rifaximin) for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, is it okay to drink alcohol with it? Or will it adversely affect the antibiotic

Nope: It is generally very unwise to consume alcohol while on any antibiotic - but since your intestine is trying to recover from infection I wouldn't take the chance of causing any more irritation until fully healed. Stick to water - freshen it up with slices of cucumber as this has antioxidant properties and may help with some of the irritation. http://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-91340/xifaxan-oral/details#interactions ...Read more
