Are 5 hour energy drinks bad for you?

Are 5 hour energy drinks bad for you?

Intrinsically, No.: If you need to stay awake for 5 hours and have no physiologic reason to avoid stimulants i don't see this as bad per se. However, repeated use or dependency might make you wonder if something else is underlying. Clearly there are many conditions and medications which would make taking stimulants unwise. Mixing other psychoactive drugs including the illegal stuffs and alcohol probably not good. ...Read more

Hyper : Prednisone already makes many people feel "bouncy". Throw in a stimulant and you may not feel well at all. You may also get indigestion or stomach pain. Is it bad to take azithromycin with 5 hour energy drinks?

Is it bad to take azithromycin with 5 hour energy drinks?

5 Hour Energy: It is my opinion that one should not use 5 hour energy drinks at all because of potential for adverse effects on blood pressure and the heart. Azithromycin is subject to degradation when exposed to an acid environment. 5 hour energy will increase the acidic level of the stomach and could inactivate part of the dose of azithromycin. ...Read more

Will drinking an energy drink with no sugar or calories daily get someone sick?

Will drinking an energy drink with no sugar or calories daily get someone sick?

Probably not: 1 energy drink a day will probably not do any serious damage to you. However, it is not supporting your health. It is not unusual to have a sensitivity to artificial sweeteners (they give me a headache, for instance). Also, energy drinks contain untested combinations of caffeine and herbal supplements. They can be quite dangerous in large quantities. Which means they are not healthy overall. ...Read more

Are energy drinks, like "boost" or the Atkins diet energy drink ok for a no carb diet?

Are energy drinks, like "boost" or the Atkins diet energy drink ok for a no carb diet?

Energy Drinks: First there is no medical or health benefit from 'energy drinks'. These drinks are usually high in caffeine and/or sugars. I would read the labels and if there are any carbs in the drink recommend that you not ingest it. But, in general i would recommend avoiding these unnecessary and non-nutritional drinks all together. ...Read more

Do you consider energy drinks much worse than sugared beverages?

Yes: I believe that energy drinks are worse than sugar sweetened beverages due to addition of more caffeine than found in usual soft drinks, not to mention greater serving sizes per container, which increases stress on heart & brain. Plus energy drinks are often combined w/alcohol resulting in becoming wide-awake drunk. But let's be clear: sugar sweetened beverages aren't good for you either. Drink H2O ...Read more

Can i drink pre-workout mix then drink one scoop of sports drink mix while working out? I work out 1hr and 30 mins everyday.

Can i drink pre-workout mix then drink one scoop of sports drink mix while working out? I work out 1hr and 30 mins everyday.

It depends what: ingredients are contained in each mix. Pre-workout mixes USUALLY contain protein and carbohydrate to improve energy performance during exercise. Sports drink mixes usually contain simple carbohydrates and electrolytes (salt) to replenish losses during heavy perspiration. As long as the two mixes don't duplicate protein and salt intake, it should be fine. ...Read more

Can my friend drink coffee or energy drink when taking clonidine 0.1 mg for withdrawals, he has no energy. ?

Can my friend drink coffee or energy drink when taking clonidine 0.1 mg for withdrawals, he has no energy. ?

I'd recommend not: When withdrawing from opiates/narcotics, brain&body are more sensitive to certain stimulants, including body's own noradrenaline. Some of withdrawal signs/symptoms are from this sensitivity. Therefore, even though clonidine can be sedating, I'd not advise taking caffeine/other stimulants. Clonidine treatment is short-term - if side effects intolerable, would ask prescriber for advice (lower dose?) ...Read more
