If its in the back its called spondylosis; sacroiliitis= inflammation of the sacro-iliac joint, due to arthritis, injury or an infection; facet hypertrophy= enlargement of the facet joints from arthritis; osteophytes= spurs of bone from arthritis; stenosis= narrowing of the spine. Ankle surgery: Surgery to stabilize a joint has not been shown to change the rate of osteoarthritis. If you have the surgery it should be to prevent instability episodes in the future. If you have fully rehabilitated the ankle it may no longer be unstable. Instability is a functional loss of control of joint stabilization. Having looseness on examination (laxity) is not the same as functional instability. ...Read more
