I've been having a lot of headaches recently along with dizziness/vertigo. They don't necessarily happen at the same time. What could it be?
Probably migraine: Migraines are the most common cause of frequent headaches, and they are often associated with dizziness. Your otc pain meds are likely contributing to rebound/medication overuse headache, which causes the headaches to actually worsen in the long run. You should see a neurologist who can get you on a good preventative agent as well as a good acute agent (i.e. Triptan i.e. Imitrex) for the pain. ...Read more
Last friday I ate shrimp and soon after experienced dizziness/vertigo. Dizziness/vertigo has lasted since fri. How long does reaction usually last?
Should be resolved: Most food reactions are immediate with GI discomfort, nausea, vomiting, possibly throat swelling and breathing difficulty. Occasional delayed, >24 hr, reactions occur. Could be migraine: Many things can cause vertigo but in people who have a history of regular headaches and who have family members who also get headaches, vertigo can be caused by migraine. I get dizzy and the room twists when on a computer or phone. What can cause dizziness/vertigo when looking at a computer or phone screen?
Visual vertigo: I have answered this question before. But the symptoms have been labeled as visual vertigo and is caused by moving the eyes back and forth for long periods of time. Was in Colorado for a few days (over 9600 ft) felt sick (couldn't sleep, dizzy, vertigo) now back at sea level still feel ill - how long to recover?
Altitude illness: Yes, been there, had that. Awful. Fortunately it probably won't last too long assuming you're back at normal altitude for you. Get outside, exercise, take plenty of fresh air (real oxygen helps if you have an oxygen bar nearby!) and most importantly, drink lots of water to make up for any deficit. Next time you have to go to altitude, you can get a prescription to help prevent it. Better soon ...Read more
I recently discontinued taking my depression/anxiety medication, Venlafaxine. The past two days I have had dizziness/vertigo. What can help with this?
Time: If you stopped this cold, you might want to reconsider that act. Call your doc tomorrow and ask the doctors opinion. This has the side effects that you describe for several days. The idea is to wean off not stop cold. The doctor will probably take a reduced dose and then space it out. But you must know you may have more anxiety by doing it this way. ...Read more
Every time I take a hot bath, I get very dizzy, vertigo, and sometimes I even pass out. I can't figure out why! I am from az, so I am used to heat. Ideas?
Dehydration: I see you have a history of bulimia. If you aren't hydrated enough (or if you are a person with an overall low blood pressure), the heat of the bath can make your vein dilate and the blood sink to your legs, or causing a "vasovagal" reaction. Maybe drink more fluids before a bath, and try to take baths that aren't quite so hot. ...Read more
