Why is it lately that in the shower I get dizzy and lightheaded I take hot showers this is a new problem for about 2 months is it a seizure?

Can check BP, anemia: A person who gets overheated will automatically dilate (widen) the blood vessels in his skin so that more blood will flow to the skin. His body does this in hopes of cooling him down, just like the elephant who sends more blood to his ears to cool his body down. The person, however, feels lightheaded and may faint because there is not enough blood flowing his brain (too much blood is in the skin). ...Read more

If I read about seizures I get light headed and dizzy. Is this panic induced?

Your "Lizard" Brain?: Ur "thinking brain" responds 2 signals from of all kinds from parts of ur primitive "lizard brain." the lizard brain looks 4 signals that u are- or soon may be -in danger. The lizard can get just as scared from things happening in front of u as it can from imagining something scary. Sounds like your lizard brain is very convincing! How do I get over the anxiety and fear that I may have a seizure its been 15 years since my one and only I make myself dizzy worrying everyday?

Good Advice: I think you hit the nail on the head with your last question. The problem isn't your seizure that you had years ago. You suffer from overwhelming anxiety and for that reason you are excessively worrying about it. Seek out help for your anxiety. I would talk to your doctor about medications that may be helpful for anxiety as well as maybe seeing a therapist. ...Read more

Why is it after 14 years seizure free when I think about them I get sick and dizzy is it anxiety I take 20mg of celexa (citalopram) but I still get nervous?

Obsessive fears: It's very likely that anxiety is producing these "sick and dizzy" symptoms when you think of seizures. Celexa (citalopram) may quiet this anxiety and prevent full panic attacks, but you may benefit much more from cognitive behavioral therapy focusing on your obsessive concerns about seizures. Medications alone are not likely to free you from anxiety. ...Read more

I have seizures really bad and I have been blacking out and feeling dizzy I also wake up really sore I take 600mg of dialantin a day is that too much I keep having seizures and feelng worse

I have seizures really bad and I have been blacking out and feeling dizzy I also wake up really sore I take 600mg of dialantin a day is that too much I keep having seizures and feelng worse

Not: Not all neurologists are the same. If you have a diagnosed seizure disorder and the medications your neurologist has prescribed have not stopped the seizures or decreased their severity and frequency, you may need other medications instead of or in addition to dilantin, or you may ultimately need to have neurosurgery to remove the part of the brain that is abnormal and is where the seizures are started. So you may need to see a neurologist with a special interest and training in epilepsy, an "epileptologist". These may be found at academic medical centers more often than elsewhere...In alabama, that would likely be at uab in birmingham. ...Read more

I been in bed rest for a few months and just stood up and walked. Felt ok except for feeling anxiety and dizzy. I heard seizures can happen. True?

Depends: The reason for the bed rest would be the issue w/ respect to seizures. I've never heard of a seizure caused merely by bed rest for months. I'm glad you generally felt okay upon walking a bit. I hope it goes well. Work w/ a physical therapist for best outcome. Knowing your condition, they could advise about risks incl seizure possibilities. Relax and congratulations! ...Read more

I''ve been experiencing some symptoms. Can it be seizures? I have twitches and sudden jerks often. I have dizziness and once a month blurry vision.

Need an evaluation: This could be benign but you do need to be seen by your primary care doctor who may also request a neurology consult. Some seizure disorders are benign and self limited. Others will require medication. If you are having seizures, the description you give fits most closely with myoclonic seizures, often noted during puberty and responding well to medication. Please make an appointment ASAP. ...Read more

I didn't take topamax (topiramate) for seizure. I took it for nerve damage. After stop taking for 10 days im dizzy & blurred sight. Took for 7 yrs. Is this normal?

Topamax (topiramate) side effects: Sometimes topamax (topiramate) may cause changes with the vision, but this is rare, and it occurs when it is used regularly. It should not be causing these symptoms now.

Two common causes of your symptoms are increased blood pressure and increased blood sugar. I recommend you have those checked before you look for other causes.

Hopefully you feel better soon! ...Read more
