None: In order to cure a disease, doctors first need to know cause. Cause of ibs is unknown. Donnatal (phenobarbital atropine hyoscyamine and scopolamine) & Bentyl are prescription medications with known efficacy. Imo ibs is a functional problem caused by impingement of parasympathetic neural system within the pelvic presacral plexus. Pelvic girdle dysfunction from hypermobility is the culprit. R/O IBS: IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion. IUC/CROHNS DZ/IBD is inflammation usually DX by BX IBS SX can be managed .You need a full exam and blood work. Especially screen for H pylori . In-other-words, you have certain symptoms such as bloating, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and/or constipation. A multitude of tests are done and nothing is found.
