Can you die from drinking on antabuse (disulfiram)?

Doubt it: It is unlikely. If you are of poor health, the stress may be severe enough; however, in healthy patients, it does not happen. I had one patient do 3-4 shots before they started having a reaction, they had the expected reaction of flushing and nausea which lasted 6 hours. Many of my patients can drink up to half drink before a reaction starts. That is why it should be used with other measures. ...Read more

Drank 11 hours ago, took antabuse (disulfiram) this morning?

Depends: The package insert says that alcohol can cause an Antabuse (disulfiram) reaction within 24 hours of drinking alcohol. However, in most cases, all detectable alcohol in blood and the body are gone within 8--10 hours, unless drinking has been very heavy and there is liver damage. If the drug is not deterring you from drinking, you should talk with your doctor about another anti-craving medication. ...Read more

Can I eat food cooked with wine while on antabuse (disulfiram)?

Antabuse (disulfiram) and wine: It should be okay to cook with a little wine while on antabuse (disulfiram). Most of the alcohol evaporates during cooking. If you take 250 mgs per day, or less, a very small amount of alcohol should not cause an Antabuse (disulfiram) reaction. Some take 500 mgs per day, and for those people, i would probably avoid any and all alcohol, even a small amount used for cooking. Good luck. ...Read more

How long do I have to wait to drink after taking antabuse (disulfiram)?

Confusing.: The whole idea of taking Antabuse (disulfiram) is to stop drinking; so why would you want to drink after taking it? But to answer your question, Antabuse (disulfiram) has a 12-hour half-life, meaning that it takes your body 12 hours to clear out half of it -- so i wouldn't attempt to drink any alcohol (even cough medicine) for 3 days, minimum. ...Read more

Is it possible for you to still smoke pot while taking the drug antabuse (disulfiram)?

Sure: While you're taking disulfiram, alcohol will make you sick but cannabis won't affect you. Right or wrong, cannabis remains illegal in most places. You've probably had bad experiences with alcohol, and while cannabis is less likely to make you belligerent, it's not going to make you smarter, more productive, or (in the long run) happier or better-liked. Hope you find what you really want. Cheers. ...Read more
