Diagnosed w c5/c6 pinched nerve (ncs test), mild shoulder bursitis & bicep tendinosis (mri), & de Quervain's (finkelstein's) on same side. Possible?

Yes.: Possible. The ncs and MRI are pretty definitive tests. So i believe the c5/6 impingements. On the other hand finklestein's is also a pretty good predictor of de quervain's. Certainly could have all three. ...Read more

I have a torn distal biceps tendon had MRI and i was told it was about 1/4 torn do I need surery?

I have a torn distal biceps tendon had MRI and i was told it was about 1/4 torn do I need surery?

Maybe not: If the tendon is mostly intact and there is no gap you could try conservative care. Was this an acute injury? If so better prognosis for success without surgery. Would need 6-8 weeks of protection from sudden jerking force ( no heavy resistance). Needs to be watched and should steadily improve. If not, may need surgery. ...Read more

I have distal bicep tendonitis 4 months ago and still not resolved and I have gout .I got tendonitis through wieght training .How can I get rid of it

Tough Problem: Distal biceps tendinitis with or without gout is a very difficult problem to treat and somewhat controversial. Many with tendiintis have a partial tendon tear. This may heal but it could take a year. If after 6-9 months you are not better, i would recommend an MRI to assess the biceps tendon and plan needed surgery. No wt lifting while healing. ...Read more

Is thumb pain normal after distal bicep tendon reattachment and if so for how long.

Is thumb pain normal after distal bicep tendon reattachment and if so for how long.

Not common: While it is not common, it can happen. Distal tendon repair creates local trauma where several nerves and blood vessels travel. It should not last long, and be sure to follow up closely with your surgeon and share any concerns and ask questions, especially if it continues or worsens. ...Read more

Could I have torn my rotator cuff at the same time as a distal bicep tendon rupture? I had surgery for the rupture, now need MRI for the shoulder

Unlikely: A ruptured biceps tendon@ the elbow is usually known... Eccentric contraction of the muscle w/ a feeling of a ' pop' or tear is commonplace. Rotator cuff tears occurring @ the same time is conceivable but very unlikely. More likely you had a rct already and was 'picked up' by your ors @ exam/mri. The "long head" of the biceps in the shoulder can tear in chronic rot.Cuff tears . Gl! ...Read more

Can a partial tear of the distal bicep tendon cause pain in my forearm, wrist and make my fingers cramp. My injury happened 3 weeks ago.?

Depends: Near the distal biceps is the median nerve. Injury to that area can potentially injure that nerve or swelling puts pressure on that nerve. A test called emg/ncv can identify how well that nerve is functioning and help determine the cause. Stop at your local physical medicine and rehab or neurologist doctors office for more details. ...Read more
