See an osteopath: It may be difficult to determine why this is happening unless it is physically examined by an osteopathic physician. They may find that there are certain structures on the skull that may be more tender than others that may be on a suture line, or edge of a bony prominence on the skull. You receive more information, once this examination is done.

IT DEPENDS: Scalp that hurts could be due to an inflammatory process of the scalp due to diet, stress, hormonal imbalance, bacterial or fungal infection. Do you have redness of the scalp? Pimples? Oily scalp? Flaking? Crusting? Bleeding? There is something called temporal arteritis which is a diagnosis that we would not want to miss. Please see your physician for a physical exam and history.See 1 more doctor answer

Chronic or acute?: If these symptoms are chronic and paroxysmal, recurring with your noted triggers above, then most likely you have exertional headaches. If acute and abrupt in onset, then you should proceed to the Emergency Department of your local hospital.See 1 more doctor answer

Headaches: As physicians we try to put all the symptoms and aspects of he history to come together to diagnose a one single condition. Not really: It depends on what you are describing as a tension headache, and the characteristics of the pain and location. If the pain is over the area of the "sore spots", you may have a herpetic outbreak in your head that is causing pain. I.E. Shingles. If pain is generalized, it's probably coincidental.See 1 more doctor answer
Does occipital neuralgia cause tingling over one half of scalp and sore spots on scalp? Hurts to move hair. Also tingly numb feeling forehead n cheek
Cutaneous allodynia: Cutaneous allodynia is the scalp tenderness and pain with hair movement that can happen when a migraine has gone on for a while until there is "central sensitization." The numbness in forehead and cheek doesn't sound like occipital neuralgia. Hemicrania continua is also a possibility, but less likely. I'm available for consult if you'd like to discuss further. Hope that helps!
Many possibilities: Your pain could be as a result of many different things. One would need to do a thorough history and physical exam and possibly some laboratory and radiology exams to determine the exact cause. Have it evaluated by a professional to see if you have fractured it of if it is just a soft tissue injury such as a sprain. You may have a ligamentus or a tendon injury or even a fracure.See 2 more doctor answers
