Surgical repair.: Assuming you are talking about external hernia, it is an anatomic mechanical defect, a hole. All other treatments, including hernia truss and external supporters, are temporary fixes at best.

Depends: As we age and depending upon size, size of neck of hernia, bowel sliding in and out or NOT! Can make a difference in recommendations to repair. Also, other cardiopulmonary, urinary, or colon disorders may change the plan and results.

Need Clarification: Personally, I would never use the term "nonconcerning" to describe a hernia. I think you should discuss this with the physician who made your diagnosis to obtain some clarification. Except for rare cases, surgical repair of hernias are recommended.

Depends: On the size ; type of hiatal hernia. Most commonly medications are used to decrease acid in the stomach, avoid eating late at night or several hours before lsyonyg down. If they do not have incarcerated (stuck) bowel or pain, then they can be monitored. If they cause problems such as pain, cannot push it back in, etc, then it will need surgical repair.
