Having colonoscopy next week. Is it critical that low dose aspirin, fish oil, multivitamin, and vitamin C be discontinued 7 days in advance?

Having colonoscopy next week. Is it critical that low dose aspirin, fish oil, multivitamin, and vitamin C be discontinued 7 days in advance?

Can taking fish oil cause LDL to be elevated? I'm taking it and i've never had a high LDL before.

Can taking fish oil cause LDL to be elevated? I'm taking it and i've never had a high LDL before.

Yes: Fish oils contain two active omega-3 fatty acids, dha and epa. Most fish oil products are a blend of these two fatty acids. Dha + epa frequently increases LDL cholesterol in a dose dependent manner (the higher the dose, the greater the increase). About 1, 000 mg/day of epa tends to lower LDL particle concentrations ; in trials have ?ed death rates ~12-15%. >4, 000 mg/day of epa (less so epa+dha), tends to ? blood triglyceride fat concentrations (far more effective: stop all sugars ; most carbs). ...Read more
