Discomfort in knee which swelled up after a few days. Dr said to walk on it and X-ray doesn't show anything. What do I do as it still hurts @front?
Time: X-rays only show bony abnormalities therefore there could be come other soft tissue injury or inflammation going on. You did not give enough detail for a diagnosis. Leg pain: from the history, I agree that a deep vein thrombosis is unlikely, as there is no associated swelling, and from your description the discomfort is localized. This raises the issue of a knee related issue, perhaps a popliteal (Baker's) cyst. Can't say for sure: there can be many reasons- joint, cartilage but usually not both knees or soft tissue like Tendonitis or bursitis. If there is joint swelling suggests arthritis and be swelling from bursitis and tendinitis also.
