Discoloration And Pain In The Hands
I punched a cabinet at work 3 days ago, I still have major discoloration and pain on my hand, should I see a doctor?
Seems unlikely.: Intermittent swelling is not characteristic of DVT since a clot would cause continuous swelling. Also upper extremity DVT is not as common as lower extremity DVT and usually is associated with an inciting event such as trauma, tumor, an IV or thoracic outlet syndrome. It would be very unlikely for your symptoms to be due to dvt. See a vein specialist for an exam. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

What might cause recurrent discoloration in knuckles of one or both hands? Knuckles & fingers suddenly turn blue, lasting anywhere from 1hr- day(s).
Possibly Raynaud's: Raynauds involves cold or stress induced vasospasm of small vessels in hands and feet. It is really more of an annoyance than a harmful problem. Calcium channel blockers are the most common medication that physicians use to treat the symptoms of raynauds. The main drawback is the side effects from these medicines. Keeping your hands and feet warm remains the best treatment. ...Read more

I have on my pinkie fingertip an orange discoloration, it doesn't hurt or itch. haven't smashed my hand or frostbite ever. been there now for 2 years?
Dermatology: Without seeing it in person, it's really hard to give you an accurate diagnosis on what it is, but I think it's probably a god sign that it doesn't hurt or bleed or cause you many problems. I would suggest you see a dermatologist and have them take a look at it and see what they think of the discoloration and if it's something you need to worry about. Best wishes to you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Possibly temporary: Post-inflammatory pigmentation (browning of an area that has been inflamed) tends to decrease slowly, sometimes taking several months for skin to look its previous color. In some cases, there is permanent color change. Chances are reduced by actions to prevent further inflammation, such as avoiding direct contact with irritants (eg cleaning fluids), treating eczema, seeing doc for skin problems. ...Read more
Three weeks ago my hand got glass shards in it. It's swollen and sore but discoloration is only where it healed. Any tips?
My major concern: ...is that there may still be a glass shard in your hand. It shouldn't still be sore & swollen. Since the skin over the cut has healed, the glass shard can't get out on its own. I recommend that you seek medical care for this. An x-ray may or may not show a piece of glass but, if there are signs of a foreign body, the wound needs to be explored. You may need to see a hand surgeon. Dr. Anne ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
