No idea: I have seen ( usually @ arthroscopy ) many cases of discoid meniscus( a cartilage which covers more of the top of the shin bone than it should). Discoid menisci( usually lateral) are prone to tearing. Most are trimmed and shaped @ arthroscopy to resemble a normal meniscus( unless they are repairable too).
