In terms of helping kids with behavioral problems, positive reinforcement is a great way to promote desirable behaviors. Negative behaviors may be "accidently" reinforced by paying them too much attention, so it's best to ignore most negative, non- violent behaviors. Is it a good idea to discipline my baby?

No

Baby
The definition of discipline varies with each person in technique and purpose. To me the term baby means a totaly dependent pre-toddler.While it is realistic to redirect infants, use body language, simple time out & basic communication to infer "NO", the idea of punitive dicipline in this age group makes my skin crawl. Mobile todlers require more limit setting & are likely to understand it more.

Dr. Kevin Passer answered:

How can a person develop more self-discipline?

Set Goals

Discipline
Sit down with paper and pencil and write down goals. Start with where you want to be in ten years and then go backwards. Like-"if this is where I want to be in ten years, where do I need to be in five years? And so forth. Then, try and have monthly weekly and daily goals. Tell yourself: "He who hesitates is lost" & "There's no time like the present" You can do it. Stay positive and focused.

How do i discipline myself to get back in shape?

Grab a pal

Open-uri20120707-19154-1vgxlwz
You've already started! Identifying and desire are the starting point, and now you have to take the second step. Co-discipline is key. You are accountable to another person to get up and go for that walk, or wog, and before you know it, you see the results. Making a pattern or habit of behavior can jump start your motivation. Replacing a healthy habit for a sedentary habit can be a gateway.

What is the best way to improve mental discipline?

WILLPOWER is back!

Open-uri20120726-25273-17rnxx5
According to Roy Baumeister's new book on the subject, "willpower" gives people the strength to persevere and have self-control. It can be depleted by low blood glucose levels and overuse, and it can be strengthened by exercise. The authors conclude that improving willpower is the surest way to a better life--and more important than intelligence in predicting success.
