I had my cryosurgery a few days ago. I was told to expect a watery discharge but til now have not experienced any. Is that normal? My doctor only froze my cervix for two minutes, was it suppose to be done longer?
Different protocols: Not everyone has a watery discharge. We warn people about it because it can otherwise be a bit of shock. There are different protocols for freezing the cervix. In my practice, I either use a single freeze that lasts 5 minutes or freeze for 3 minutes, allow it to thaw and then freeze again for 3 minutes. Best wishes! ...Read more

How do I know if I have an infection after having cryosurgery of the cervix? I'm still getting some discharge.
No short ans.: After a cryo procedure you can have watery brown discharge for 4-6 weeks! After 3 weeks it should be less each week. If you have foul odor, then you may have a bacterial infection. Hopefully you were asked about risk for std before the procedure. It is not mandatory to test for std especially if you are over 26 and in a monogamous relationship, but if worried, call your doc. ...Read more

What did the doc: Who did the procedure tell you, that is a basic followup instruction that your doc should have told you before or right after doing the procedure, normal time is 3- 10 days at the most and there should be no odor, very surprised your doc did not tell you that to you as that a basic post procedure instruction. ...Read more

It's been 15 days since I had cervical cryotherapy, is it normal that I have been bleeding a little bit?
Hello I've had cryotherapy at least 8 weeks ago. At first I had a very stink smell, which my doctor told me was totally normal. But I literally smelle?
8 weeks: Sounds like a bit of a long time to still be experiencing effects from (presumed) cervical cryotherapy for an abnormal Pap smear. The odor of old blood/tissue from the destroyed cervical cells is normal, but after 8 weeks that should really be cleared up. Perhaps you have developed a vaginal infection: bacterial vaginosis or something else. You need to see your doctor for testing/diagnosis. ...Read more
Will my sex life be affected by the cryotherapy procedure? Such as lack of sensation or pain or anything not normal with sex.
No: Cryotherapy is like any burn to tissue, it sheds and new tissue grows back in its place. I did cryotherapy to remove a wart two days ago and now I have a huge blister that's almost black. Is this normal?
Gyno says its normal to have heavy bleeding after cryotherapy. She says its because I'm on depo. I haven't had a period in a year. Normal???
Errr...: It's normal "up to a point." heavy bleeding for LIMITED times soon after cryo is likely normal, prolonged heavy bleeding or bleeding months after a cryo is likely NOT normal. Depo-Provera does not cause heavy bleeding tho many women describe it as heavy because it's frequent. Keep a close watch on the bleeding and talk with your doctor again if worried. Good wishes. ...Read more
