I'm on contraception pills (triphasil) and ovulate, is this normal?

I'm on contraception pills (triphasil) and ovulate, is this normal?

No: If ovulation has been documented by testing (serum progesterone) and you are taking triphasil (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) every day at the same time each day, no it is not normal. It might be time for a "pinch hitter" (another pill type) as triphasil (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) may not be "stepping up to the plate" for you. Ask your md for advice. ...Read more

I accidentlly took two of my triphasil (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) pills on the same day. Problem?

No: The only problem with taking two pills in one day is the small chance of nausea. I just started taking triphasil (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) today. After how many pills would I be able to have unprotected sex without falling pregnant?

I just started taking triphasil (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) today. After how many pills would I be able to have unprotected sex without falling pregnant?

Depends on start: If you started the pill within 5 days of the first day of your last period, you are protected right away. If you started at any other time, you are protected after being on the pill a week (7 days). Although this is true, I still like the idea of waiting a full month after being on the pill to be the safest. See here for more info: http://bit. Ly/ssoiyu. ...Read more

Taking Yaz/Vestura for 2 weeks for perimenopause. Mood is better but makes me nauseous. In my 30s I took Triphasil-would this work for perimenopause?

Dose change needed: Nausea is a common side effect of using a birth control pill that has too much estrogen. To help with your symptoms, it would be better to switch to a method with lower estrogen content, a triphasic as you asked about would be appropriate as long as you are healthy and do not have any history of migraines with aura. do not smoke while you are using this method. ...Read more

Is it okay to switch from Yaz generic Vestura to Triphasil generic Trivora mid cycle for perimenopause? I read conflicting answers but feel nauseous.

Not a good idea: Generic yaz and generic triphasil have the same estrogen component, but different dose regimens of it and completely different progestin components in them.
