Interval training is a great way to mix the two, burn more calories and get an overall better aerobic workout in less time Set up your weight circuit and do 1-3 minutes of aerobic exercise in between each weight exercise. Makes for a fast and fun workout while keeping your heart rate up. If you decide to do aerobic exercise 1st don't fatigue to the point your form deteriorates for strength training.

If increased aerobic capacity and endurance are desired results, would go with an aerobic plan. if increased muscle mass/strength is the desired goal, then would go anerobic weight training. For overall health, could grid an initial plan for aerobic/cardio 30 min 5 days per week, with weight training days of 25-30 min on MWF, so you will have rest/recovery from weight training.
