From canada my bf used 2 kleenez not bare hands to pick up dead baby bird and dispose.Than carried in groceries without washing hands. Contamination?
Germs are everywher: Germs are everywhere, I would not expect that the two of you were going to eat off of those grocery bags. With food preparation and refrigeration your bacterial burden is usually reduced significantly. I wouldn't be any more concerned about this ,that if you went outside and played in the yard and came in and ate dinner without washing your hands. The normal human body has a great immune system. ...Read more
See below: Spoiling has consequences that go beyond the immediate trouble of managing an unruly, spoiled child. It sets up patterns that can last a lifetime. Spoiled kids have not learned to work for something that they really want. There is no work ethic- no lesson to really strive for something. They get what they want through manipulation, they develop a dysfunctional way of relating to people-parents. ...Read more
Can my 17 month baby, who caught MRSA at birth in the hospital, give my unborn baby MRSA through his saliva through breastfeeding?
No: Staph in some form will colonize newborn skin by a day or two of age.If MRSA is around it will do so, if not , another strain. Mrsa, will come and go with or without treatment and be replaced by other strains.Today > 70% of staph infections in or out of hospitals involve mrsa. I would not treat your older child like they have it forever. If s/he has repeated boils, have it treated and eliminated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can sharing baby wipes between babies in a church nursery spread disease? What about diaper changing surfaces that may not be cleaned between kids?
Unfortunately NO: Breastmilk is nature's perfect food for babies; formula is not nearly as good. Breastfed babies have better immune function (less infections), less chance of dying in their first year, lower risk of allergies, Type 1 diabetes and obesity and better cognitive development. Moms who breast feed lose more weight, have less depression & breast cancer! PLEASE BREASTFEED! See http://tinyurl.com/o85tl7j ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Safe to still breastfeed baby after getting paint on hands while painting a room in our house (washed hands before nursing)?
Probably: The common latex paints have few if any issues which would exclude breastfeeding after exposure to fumes or from skin contact. Some suggest that oil based paints have too many volatile organic compounds for infant exposure to fumes and inhalation of these fumes may alter the taste of milk. I have not seen evidence that the exposure you describe should be a problem. ...Read more

Husband smoking?: If your husband is smoking around your baby, this is a concern. I don't believe the odor alone is injurious, but i'd like to hear what my colleagues say. The bottom line here is that if your husband is smoking, get him to quit. A premature death due to a preventable cause is the biggest negative impact that smoking has on kids. I know from personal experience. Lgromkomd. ...Read more

Touched bird poop. Washed hands 6x, used hand sanitizer 3x, used rubbing alcohol 1x. Will I get sick from the poop? Will my nursing baby get sick?
Pacifiers: Yes please! Pacifiers are wonderful in my opinion. They satisfy babies need to suck, they sooth baby, they help mom and dad. They don't hurt teeth. Best of all there are studies which show a decreased incidence of sudden infant death with their use. This doctor and grandpa endorses them! ...Read more

Exposed to MRSA while babysitting infant & 91 year old -parents, grandma, & baby have skin MRSA - 91 yr old also has MRSA in bladder. Am i at risk?
Contagious: Mrsa is contagious but your level of exposure is important. If you had direct physical contact with an infected person that in turn had touched their lesions then you might have picked it up. For it to cause infection it would probably have to penetrate your body thru broken skin. Don't panic, but take a good shower and be on the lookout for any "pimple like" lesions. Seek med help is u see some. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
