How much diphenhydramine HCl will kill me?

Tons: You will likely be able to tolerate at least 5 capsules without much problem except for drowsiness and a dry mouth. As for the lethal dose, I don't know the exact number but I'd doubt that even taking 20 capsules can kill you. ...Read more

No: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is a short-acting antihistamine and is more likely to make you sleepy when used. Fexofenadine is a second-generation, non-sedating antihistamine which should have more lasting effects, closer to 24 hours, and is less likely to make you sleepy. ...Read more

I've been taking about 500 to 1400mg of OTC diphenhydramine hcl daily for about the last 6-8 years and have stopped. How can I stop the ITCHING!!?

Find out the cause: Consider consulting a dermatologist if the itching has been going on for 6-8 years. A dermatologist can help you sort out the cause or devise a treatment program which can help control the itching. On the other hand, if high doses of antihistamine controls the itching without side effects for several years, you may continue taking it. ...Read more

What side effects come from taking 1000mg of diphenhydramine HCL daily for 8 years? And how can I stop the itching after I've stopped taking them?

You need help: I hope you meant 100mg. If you're really taking 40 capsules of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) a day, and even if you're only taking 4 capsules a day, you need to see a board certified allergist for help. Even if the underlying cause of the itching can't be found, there are better ways to control it ...Read more

Mixing diphenhydramine HCL (50mg) with oxycodone (30mg)? Due to an accident, chronic, severe, pain does not let me sleep.......

Consult doctor: It appears that you need pain management. Diphenhydramine has some sedating effect but does not work on everyone and certainly won't overcome the pain which may be keeping you awake. Should I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine hcl) for my poison ivy even though I suffer from anxiety?

Should I take Benadryl (diphenhydramine hcl) for my poison ivy even though I suffer from anxiety?

Other antihistamine: The main reason to take antihistamines for poison ivy is to decrease the itching. There is risk of central nervous system effects with benadryl (diphenhydramine). Potentially it could aggravate anxiety disorders. An antihistamine that does not cross over into the brain like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is Allegra (fexofenadine). It will still help with the itching. ...Read more

I take Sertraline HCL 50 MG and Trazodone 150 MG Is it ok to take Benadryl (diphenhydramine) allergy liqui-Gels 25 MG with the other meds?

For what?: All meds have potential adverse effects and the more meds you are on increases this risk. Both sertraline and trazodone are antidepressants, but you are likely taking trazodone for sleep and these 2 are not an uncommon combo. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is also sedating. If you need Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for allergies talk to your doc about tapering down trazodone. Also consider seeing an allergist ...Read more
