Any hypertensive meds that don't cause hair loss? Vasotec, lebatalol, diovan, bystolic (nebivolol) work but cause hair loss. Benicar doesn't reduce dystolic #.

Unusual side effect: I have treated pts for forty years, and I can't remember that complained of hair loss after starting any of these agents. That does not mean it never happens (one lesson I've learned in medicine is never say never). Every drug has a huge list of adverse effects because each one a pt complains of in a study gets listed. Vasotec is an ace, Diovan (valsartan) & Benicar r arb's, same effects. Hair loss unlikely.

HTN medications: There are multiplle drugs on the market including the generic for Diovan (valsartan). Is the Diovan (valsartan) generic too expensive as well. There may be a specific reason your doctor has you on Diovan (valsartan) for instance to protect your kidneys with renal disease or with diabetes. You need to consult with your doctor, see which medicine is best for you and your conditions, bring with you a list of meds insurance covers.

Want to change Diovan (valsartan) to another med, what else works with less side effects?

Side effects: Any medicine that you take has side effects and Diovan (valsartan) has a very good side effect profile. When you take any medicine to lower your blood pressure you may feel a little sluggish at first until your body gets used to the lower blood pressure. Since you didn't mention what the side effects are, you should discuss with your physician.

I take clonodine, hydralozine, imdur, diovan, (valsartan) coreg & amolodipine for hbp & levothyroxide for thyroid. How can I keep longer erection & better sex?

I take clonodine, hydralozine, imdur, diovan, (valsartan) coreg & amolodipine for hbp & levothyroxide for thyroid. How can I keep longer erection & better sex?

Talk to your doc: If you have weak erections inadequate for sex or short duration that does not allow for mutual pleasure, then see what med changes can be made. I assume that you have some major pathology that has put you on these meds at such a young age, so there may not be much wiggle room. Your meds may rule out viagra, (sildenafil) so you might need to resort to vacuum devices.

Okay to mix Diovan (valsartan) and methyldopa?

Yes: However, one has to ask why is Methyldopa being used? If the person is pregnant or has the potential of becoming pregnant, they should not be on diovan (valsartan). Methyldopa is rarely used as an antihypertensive anymore, except when the hypertensive patient is also pregnant.
