INFECTION: Quarter size red spot overlying a pea size hard mass (lymph node swelling) is probably an active infection if there is associated pain and fever. Bug bite: You probably got bitten by a bug of some sort - impossible to tell what sort without seeing it in person. Could also be a small staph infection, or a bite that has become infected.
