Dear doc, is cod liver oil safe to take with: 1. bp meds (beta blockers, calcium channel blockers) 2. proton pump inhibitors & 3. VitD3 supplements?

Dear doc, is cod liver oil safe to take with:
1. bp meds (beta blockers, calcium channel blockers)
2. proton pump inhibitors &
3. VitD3 supplements?

Yes: It's fine to take with the blood pressure medications and the proton pump inhibitor. I would probably stop the vitamin D supplement as cod liver oil has vitamin A and D as the main vitamin sources. Vitamin D is one you can get in trouble with because it is fat soluble and can accumulate in your organs if you take too much. ...Read more

Can doxycycline cause elevated liver enzmes?

Yes indeed: Some people are sensitive to this stuff and get elevated liver enzymes from it. It's easy to find out -- your physician can recheck you after two weeks off the stuff. The tetracycline family of meds are great, especially for acne, and are life-savers in rickettsial disease, but there are other good substitutes for long-term if one's made you sick. ...Read more

Ace levels high, liver enzymes high, possible sarcoidosis dx, can sarcoidosis cause fatty liver on ultrasound. Dr scheduling liver& lymph biopsy.

Sarcoidosis - Liver: The most common radiographic finding of hepatic sarcoidosis is hepatomegaly. Focal liver nodules (thought to represent coalescence of small granulomas) can also be seen in hepatic sarcoidosis. Liver involvement by sarcoidosis typically responds well to steroids. ...Read more

I'm on metoprolol, benicar, omeorazole, allegra, synthroid, (thyroxine) and ativan. Will any of these cause liver kidney or electrolyte issues? Or cardiac issues?

I'm on metoprolol, benicar, omeorazole, allegra, synthroid, (thyroxine) and ativan. Will any of these cause liver kidney or electrolyte issues? Or cardiac issues?

Unlikely: I guess the answer depends on whether you are a glass half empty or a glass half full person. You are not likely to have any of those adverse effects from the medications you listed, however there is no medication that is not associated with rare liver toxicity, and several of the medications on the list might have some of the other side effects you listed. Rarely. ...Read more
