Maybe contractions: could get stronger and closer or sometimes go away if they get stronger and the same frequency or closer together for a few hours then call your OB, if your cervix has changed that means early labor , at 36 weeks as long as you and baby are OK no one is going to encourage your labor ...Read more

Not really : If you have contractions that are causing cervical dilatation and effacement, we would call it labor, in your case preterm labor. If you are having labor contractions, we would not call it braxton hicks contractions. Hope that helps. ...Read more

Can walk may help: But if she were my pt i would offer her induction as a recent large study showed the ideal time for the baby to be delivered is 39-40 weeks if she were my pt i would rec cervadil to ripen cervix in the evening in the labor room, then start Pitocin in am I have induced unripe cervix many times at 40 weeks and the induction works 99% of time and have prevented many more chance for prob after 40wks. ...Read more

Not in labor: You likely didn't dilate because you weren't in preterm labor. There are no medications that will stop true preterm labor; the best we can do is slow things down to allow benefit of steroids to improve lung maturity. Current guidelines recommend against the use of medications beyond 48 hours for slowing contractions, there is no demonstrated benefit that justifies the risks of these medications. ...Read more

May deliver early: Call your OB and he/she may say you should be on bed rest in hospital under close observation. The good thing is that your child is almost fully cooked (36 weeks). The longer your child can stay in your oven the better it is. In hospital the child's heart can be monitored and if labor starts too early they can try to stop it. ...Read more

NO : This is not something you want to do . The purpose is to see inside the eyes for diagnostic purposes. Too much light can make you very dizzy and trouble to see. If they become dilated can also precipitate a glaucoma attack . I recommend against this idea. ...Read more
